Question for poly lovers about staying at other resorts

We stayed poly this year for two nights and it wasn't long enough at all so we said when we do our big splurge trip next time it would be all the poly...however I am tempted for the CR as well. DH won't do a split stay as that would solve my problem, plus I have read it is cheaper to stay at one resort the whole time.

For those who love the poly and have stayed at cr did you love it too?

It will be me, DH, dd's 2,5 and 7 and grandparents travelling with us!

Well we will find out this August during our split stay! Though, I love the Contemporary and really wanted to stay there. It always nice to try new things! Nothing's better than double CL stays!

Can't wait to hear what you think. Do you do trip reports?
I am sooo torn about not staying at the poly for some of our stay!

I really love them both. Love BLT, too, now that we have stayed there, and we almost cancelled that to go back to the Polynesian. We did visit the Poly for a meal at Ohana and also to drop our son at the Neverland club (which he loved, and they were so nice) when we had dinner at V&A one night. If we had not tried the CR, we wouldn't know that we loved it, too. It's kind of fun to learn about a new resort. That walk to and from MK is really wonderful. If you happen to end up at BLT, having access to the BLT and CR pools is a nice perk. Happy planning!

Not necessarily. It depends on many factors- which resorts, whether or not you are doing packages with dining/tickets/etc. Many folks do split stays to *save* some money. For example, staying at a moderate resort for the first part of a trip then moving to a deluxe (instead of staying deluxe the entire time).

Sorry I should have clarified. It will be cheaper for us staying at one the whole time because we will do deluxe the whole stay. Either cr or poly?!

The reason it would be cheaper not to do a split stay is if you are on a dining plan. In this sense, you would have to buy park tickets for each night of your dining plan; since your split stay will be on 2 separate reservations, you would have to purchase park tix and dining an separately for each stay. You are losing money because the way Disney prices tickets, the more you but the cheaper each day gets. So if you are buying say 2 sets of four day tickets as opposed to 1 set of eight day tickets, it will be more expensive.
If you are not doing dining plan, then just purchase your tix separately from somewhere like Undercover Tourist, and just make room only reservations. I don't see how you would be losing money this way.

Thanks. We will be doing dining plan and my DH has already said no split stay :(

so anyone have any insight as to which is better poly or CR?

We have stayed at both. Our favorite is the Poly, but CR is great too. When are you going? There are strong rumors that DVC construction will start at the Poly late this year or early in 2014.

we arent going till sept 2014 but plan to book next week. I would book poly if i knew no construction was going on. but am thinking i will be smack in middle of it.

Plus, even staying deluxe, you could save if you want to do the dining plan. Only get the plan for one of your stays and do all your special/expensive meals during that part of the trip. Then pay as you go for the other part of the trip, making sure to choose the lesser expensive options during that time.
