I am planning on purchasing some of the food we want before we go down there. With the exchange rate, I think it would be wiser to get all the lighter stuff here. We are flying, and am hoping to get some good ideas for food. I am planning on granola bars, breakfast bars, cereal (travel size), chips, even chocolate bars!! There's some more, but can anyone give me some more ideas? They will be packed in one of the suitcases, so they can't be anything that could spoil. Of course, no fruit or vegetables will be packed.
Any more ideas that I wouldn't have thought of??

We packed some trail mix, crackers, fruit roll ups and pop tarts (they are pretty good cold!)

Started a packing list for trip in November -
(for our first four-nights we will have fridge and micro)
last three nights at All-stars - (taking submersible heater or hot-pot, can also get hot water at food court)
easy mac
instant oatmeal
microwave popcorn
rice cakes
variety pak small cereals
goldfish
tang drink mix
iced tea drink mix
crackers
granola bars
canned tuna
Glad microbowls
Little debbies cakes, cookies
rice krispie squares
crackers
Any left over Halloween treats (chips, suckers, etc.)

I'm taking a soft sided cooler inside my suitcase and may include frozen yogurt tubes (direct flight down). Plan on using a whole suitcase for food, then fill it with souvenirs for trip home.

Hi, we've been back about 6 weeks (boo hoo) this is the food I packed and what actually happened to it! LOL! We are a family of 4, dh, me 7 yo dd and 15 month old ds.

12 jars babyfood: not enough needed to buy more.

ENTIRE box CHEERIOS: for the baby, we took just the bag to save room ~ he ate 2.

Pop Tarts: never opened them.

Granola Bars: EXCELLENT CHOICE, we all enjoyed them as a mid day snack instead of lunch. We usually did a big breakky with characters and dinner was light (usually).

Fruit Roll Ups: EXCELLENT for dd.

Arrowroot Cookies: for baby, didn't bring enough, needed to buy more, and he didn't like the US brand.

Peanut Butter: small plastic jar and we made sandwiches a few times. (we bought jam, bread and fuirt in Florida). You will need baggies and plastic wrap for sandwiches.

We took more stuff too.

We took too much of some stuff and not enough of others.

Next time I will NOT take as much food and just buy it at Goodings. I know lots of folks say Goodlings is too expensive, but I didn't find it that bad.

Hi ChrisJo - If your family likes chocolate bars, I would definitely pack them. I was charged $2.50 for a basic KitKat bar at Captain Cooks at the Poly! In Canadian funds that's almost $4.00, or about 8 times as expensive as what I would pay here at Costco. Chocolate bars would probably be fine if left in an air-conditioned room, but wouldn't fare well in a backpack or waistpack. I found the best snacks for my children were the individual pouches of animal crackers and teddy grahams.

ChrisJo, the last time we went, we planned on eating all breakfasts and snacks in room. So we took down cereals, sugar packets, rice krispie squares, dunkaroos, plastic bowls, spoons, travel size of Ivory (to wash bowls/spoons in sink) etc. We packed them in our cooler that has two wheels and a handle to pull with. We duct taped it shut and used it as one of our luggage pieces. When we got to hotel, I went to ice machine and filled up large zipper lock freezer bags (which I also brought with me) with the ice. We stored our milk and OJ etc in here all week. Just kept refilling the freezer baggies. It worked out really well and we saved a lot of money and time. I noticed at the grocery store that Cereals in US are the same price as in Cda, but in USD! On the way home, we threw all our dirty laundry in the cooler!

We plan on taking tons of snacks as well. Some are:

M&M minis - in plastic tubes
gum
chocolate chip cookie sticks/icing (no name brand from Superstore) very similar to Dunkaroo snack - they also have cheese and breadsticks/crackers, applesause and something, peanut butter and something.
fruit snacks

It sure does save a fortune to bring some food!!

15 days to Disney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also purchased tuna & crackers (I think its a new product - contains tuna/crackers/knife (kind of like a lunchable except it doesn't need refridgeration). We like Carnation Instant Breakfast - I bought a six pack of cans to take. I'm sure these things are available there too, but I think it would be more expensive.

-----------5 more sleeps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-------------------

I took:

Pudding Cups
Cheese/Peanut Butter & Cracker Packs
Instant cup a soup (run water thru coffee maker & add mix)
Crackers
Pop Tarts
Fruit Roll-Ups
Chips
Powdered Iced Tea Mix & Hot Chocolate mix (could have brought powdered milk....but didn't)
Kraft Dinner (microwave kind)
1 litre tetra packs of apple juice
Bagels
Small plastic jar of Peanut Butter
Marshmallows (we like to roast them over a candle!!!)
Individual serving cereal boxes
granola bars

Also took one of those little plug-in sandwich presses and made toast and grilled cheese sandwiches (could have made omelettes too....but didn't)

When I got there I bought cheese slices, bread, fruit, butter, cream cheese and milk.

I'm sure I brought other stuff, but I can't think of it right now.
