question for parents re:baby gift registry

Great idea about rechargable batteries! We will definately check in to those!

Our friends are loaning us a swing and bouncy seat! So, those are two things we don't have to worry about! :) :) :)

Make sure you try different strollers to find the one you like. We had the Graco Travel system with the baby seat that fit in the car, the stroller and on shopping carts. It was really nice to be able to move DD around without taking her out. Also, look into those baby seat covers that are polarfleece and fit right over the whole thing. It will keep the baby snug and you can take it off when you go in a store without having to take the baby out.

We bought the monitor with two receivers and still use it. One receiver stays in our bedroom and I can move the other around when we need to.

I don't know what you are doing for sleeping arrangments, but we had a bassinet on wheels and it was great. We were, ahem, perhaps a bit of, well maybe a wee little, ok anxious parents :p and liked having DD close by when she was tiny. We could put her in her bassinet with us in the living room and then wheel her into our room when we were ready for bed.

I second all the other great suggetions, especially things like onesies and baby gowns. Make sure you register for different sizes since you don't know how big the baby will be. Many babies are born already having "outgrown" newborn size clothes.

Congratulations and have fun!

My can't live without things were my nursing pillow and neck pillow. I got a pillow that had a waist strap, so it secured to me, and was larger, thicker foam than the boppy pillows. It made it possible for me to doze while I fed my DDs. The neck pillow is so that when you doze you don't end up with a sore neck.

I also loved the wipe warmer (less tears at changing time - even in Texas those things get COLD!), bouncy seat (ours was reclined enough it was great even when they were very tiny), and swing.

One thing my Nieces and nephew loved was the fleece blankets. WE used them a lot for throwing over infant carrier car seat to go out in cold and as they got older they have continued to use blanket to cover up with/snuggle. MY niece has a Dalmaian one, I usually buy them at walmart.

Instant ear thermometer!! We never had to go the rectal route! LOL

We got a LOT of use out of the exersaucer and baby sling. We got very LITTLE use out of the swing (baby hated it), bouncer (ditto), full size stroller (too bulky and heavy to use daily), and porta-crib (it ended up as a catch-all for toys).

I LOVE baby products. I have had just about all of them at one point or another and with 4 kids, have needed about all them!!

BEST ITEM TO GET!!!!

1) BABY BJORN carrier!!! Yes, they are very pricey, but they are the best carrier on the market! DO NOT register for a cheapy model! There truely is a HUGE difference in front carriers--I have had 3 of them and this one really is tops! If you do not get one for your shower, this is something you should buy on your own (look on e-bay).

2) Snap n Go or Universal car seat carrier type stroller!! This was also found by experience! I had one of those BULKY stroller/car seat combos--I hated it. The stroller barely fit into my trunck and it was way too heavy! The Snap n Go is a lightweight stroller frame that the car seat attaches onto. It is light and compact!

3) A GOOD stroller that is compact, light and streers well! My best advice test drive them and fold them --- see how you like it. Also ask if you can see how it fit in your trunk. Babies R Us will let you do this! I have gone through 12 yes, 12 strollers! I really highly advise you to test them out!!!

4) A swing--which you already have

5) Bouncey Seat--which you already have

6)Size 1 Diapers. Your baby may be small, but it may be big and will not fit into newborn diapers. If s/he is small s/he will grow into the size 1's, but if s/he is big, newborn size will never fit.

7) Mylecon (sp) gas drops, baby Tylenol, Hylands teething tablets, Johnson's soft washcloths with soap in them, WASHCLOTHS!

THINGS NOT TO REGISTER FOR:

-too many crib sheets. How many will you really go through? Max. 3

--Diaper Genie works great for a week, or untill the first poopy diaper goes into it. The stinck never goes away!

--Bottles and Nuks--until you know what type your baby will like, you are better off waiting!

--register for a doorway jumper only if your doorways will accept it. Mine will not.

Good Luck!
