question for parents (probably)

I'm going to be going down to Coronado Springs with my 17-year-old sister (I'm 20). My question is regarding temporary guardianship of her. I know some places require a quardian to allow kids under 18 in or to participate, but is temporary guardianship sufficient??

Also, has anyone ever sent their child down or taken someone else's child down? If so, what did you do for temporary guardianship? I know we need to have a paper notarized, but we're not sure what to include in the sheet. Could you please let me know how this worked out for you?

All we've done is have a notarized letter saying she will be traveling with so and so and the dates and cities, state and country.

It also states that so and so can seek medical assistance and we give permission to have them treat all medically neccessary treatments including operations. The letter should be signed in front of the notary by both parents.

She has travelled all over, including out of the country this way and we've never had any issues.

I took my 13 year old sister to WDW with me when I was 23. It was a gift for her grade school graduation. We stayed at CBR and they never said a thing. I am not sure if anything has changed since then- that was in 1993. The only place we could not enter was Pleasure Island after 7pm since I was not her parent.

At our travel agency if someone is leaving the country with a child under 18 they need a notorized letter from the parents/parent even if one parent is taking them. This is not reqired for trips within the country.

When my kids have traveled with others, I have signed a letter stating that they can seek medical attention for them if need be and given them my daughter's insurance card. We are taking my daughter's friend with us to Bermuda this month and will also need the notarized letter by both parents, but that is because we are leaving the USA.

My DD4.5 will be travelling the end of this month with my SIL and her parents. I have gotten Loco Parentus Powers of Attorney for all three of them. Plus they will have her insurance card and her daily meds (she has epilepsy). This is the first time that she has gone that far away from us for an extended period of time, so I am being a little paranoid, but better safe than sorry.

actually you can be a parent or guardian to get someone into Pleasure Island. For my bachelorette party we got my cousin who was 17 in this way (notarized letter of temporary guardianship from her parents).

Yes, they told us if I had a letter from our parents it would have been ok.

Thank you all so much for your help! My sis will be excited to know that we can go to Pleasure Island if we have our notarized guardianship. We didn't want to miss out on anything because we didn't plan ahead, so I appreciate all of your help! Thanks!

We took the friend of one of my son's one year, and all we had from his parents was a notorized letter stating that we had permission to seek medical treatment if needed. And of course we had all his medical insurance information. We never had any problems. And he behaved better than our own kids. Next time we went I wanted to take him and not ours!
