I'm going to NY to see an event at Madison Square Garden. Looking at the ticket information on ticketmaster, it indicates that I can pre-pay for parking at a lot next to MSG for $30. I was in NY a few weeks ago and the parking was $58, so $30 will be a bargain.

My question is will I be able to stay in this lot all day? The event I'm going to is on a Sunday and starts at 11AM and should be done by roughly 3PM. I plan to roam around for awhile before heading home. I just want to make sure I can leave the car there until 8-9PM. If I have to leave immediately after my event and park somewhere else (for another fee) it won't make sense to pay the $30.

Anyone know if that's the case? The lots mentioned are Central and Meyers next to MSG.

Parking is usually for a set number of out of hours. I don't know the particular lot you are referring to but all lots are similar. If the is a number, call them and find out. If you are a aaa member, they have a coupon on their website for parking in NYC. Or just do some research of parking lots that will accommodate you for a reasonable cost for that many hours.

$58 sounds like it should be an all-day rate, but it's difficult to say. And if the $30 rate is a discount of the $58 rate, then you should be OK. The good thing is that there are TONS of parking lots in the city, so you don't need to be using one directly near MSG. Especially if you are going to be roaming our fine city afterwards, you might not even end up back near the Garden anyway. Central is usually decent with their rates, but only because they are slight off the main drag. The other thing is that most meter rates are suspended on Sundays, so you might even find free street parking for the day. Good luck. Let us know how you make out!
