Has anyone had experience taking a muscle relaxer at night time (because of a pinched nerve in their neck or back) and still been able to ride Mission Space? I was wondering if the G's on takeoff cause strain on the loosened joints.

Welcome to the Dis from another Kansan:earsboy: I have no experience with the muscle relaxer, but I have been on M:S just once. It's not like the ride throws you around like Dinosaur or even Star Tours. It's more like pressure from the g's.

Thanks for the info Micca and good to hear from another Kansan! Are you planning to ride MS again or was once enough?

actually the chief sensation I would say is "floating" rather than stress...RnR did a number on my back but with Ms..no problem

Well, I maybe able to help with this.

In the takeoff sequence, there is some pressure. In fact the first time I rode MS, my knees did ache a little. I realized after the fact that my legs were not completely straight .. (I'm pretty tall). The next times I rode MS, my legs were completely straight, and I didn't ache.

CindyB, when you talk about your legs were completely straight, do you mean sitting with legs bent at right angle rather than crossed or what?
Thanks!

questioned my husband about this as he got pretty sick (always very prone to motion sickness) on this ride...he also felt pressure in the initial "lift Off" which I do not remember but I was very intent on keeping my head back in the head rest cause my back was hurting pretty badly from the previous day at RNR (sorry to any one there when we were as I was the woman barely shuffling at a snail's pace that you had to keep going around!) . I just remember the fun "weightless" feeling . by then he was way to sick to pay attention to anything but not barfing. I do know my head was not thrown around though since that is what started my back acting up on Rnr ( obviously we both have a bad habit of ignoring those "do not read this if you have...."signs:( !) all in all , an enjoyable ride I thought, " never again"for hubby

I am not a thrill ride person. YOu could not get my on RNR if you paid me for it. That being said, loved M:S. I concur that the sensations are mostly pressure for the Gs and floating from the near-weightlessness you feel. I didn't feel it was jerky at all and my back isn't exactly what you'd call strong.

I was very nervous about riding it, I think more because I was scared my kids would freak. But I loved it and I am doing it again. I feel it's an experience that you just have to have and it's the closest you can get to actually being in space at this time.

Thanks everyone for your posts! I appreciate you taking time to relay your experiences.
