Question for ladies only....

I did a search but didn't find answers to my question.

So....for those of you on the pill....have you had your monthly period go the full 4 or 5 days...then go away the next 6 days...and start spotting again???

I'm having that problem this month and was just wondering if it's a "normal" thing to happen.

p.s. I have my yearly physical May 18th so I'll ask the doctor then...but wanted to know from all of you as well.

Break through bleeding is fairly common. More common on certain OCPs (birth control pills).

How long have you been on this pill? Did you miss any doses? What type of pill is it? On any other meds? Was it lots of bleeding or just spotting?

All those questions will probably be asked by your care provider.

I've been on this pill for 3 years now. I haven't missed any doses. The pill is called Aviane (generic for Alesse).

Period started last Thursday and went away on Sunday..then yesterday I noticed pinkness after going to the bathroom...and this morning it's light spotting and the dark brown stuff

Sounds like breakthrough bleeding to me. Very common.

Don't worry, that's normal. I guess it's just one of the "fun parts" of being a woman !!
