I have a question for Kevin (or anyone else for that matter! :) ) regarding counter service meals. I listen to another Disney podcast (I know - blasphemy ;) ), and the podcaster mentioned a disappointment with Columbia Harbour House.

This person for years has ordered the chicken strips. Well, recently they were in the park and stopped to get their favorite meal. This person was surprised that they have replaced the chicken strips with chicken nuggets. The old meal came with 3 strips - while the new one you could order 6 or 9 nuggets. They figured that two nuggets would equal about one chicken strip -so they ordered the 6 piece meal. Well.. the two nuggets equaled about half of a chicken strip.

The kicker is that the price of the new 6 piece meal equals the price of the old one. So, for the same amount of money, you get about half the food (BTW they served less fries too). After eating their lunch - they were still hungry.

So my question is: has Disney downsized the portions of the counter service meals like they have some of the table service entrees? Has anyone noticed this? If it is a trend - I would think that more people would make an effort to eat off site.

Thoughts?

Ricky must be having a stroke!! :lmao:

I'm sure the feedback will be overwhelming and they will put the chicken strips back in their rightful spot!!

Havent been to Columbia Harbor House lately...or heard about changes.

I will let you know if I hear anything.

That's ridiculous! Chicken "nuggets" are not the equivalent of chicken strips. Nuggets tend to be highly processed and dry. Good chicken strips usually are made with less processed meat and are tender...at least according to DS12.

We're actually taking a year off from WDW (gasp!), but I glanced at menu prices...$29.99 for Chef Mickey's now? I'm grateful that when we were there in May 2007, DS agreed that we could try other places from now on. And the counter service prices are definately creeping up. Fair enough, but not if you trade out standard CS fare for inferior versions of it.

I don't know what it was before but , it couldn't have gone up that much. I have our receipt from free dining Sept. 2006 and for 3 adults and 1 child the total was $126.07. That does include 18% gratuity but it couldn't have been much cheaper then it is now.
