We are having another child so I had to cancel my May 2008 ressis. But, I'd borrowed the points and won't be able to use them by the end of my use year, so I pretty much had to deposit them into II. I know I need to look for a week as soon as possible and I'm a planner in advance, so that's fine. What I am wondering, is are there resorts/areas that are easier to get into? We are thinking of going somewhere either the week of Easter next year, so April 11-18 or however that falls for check in and out. I know that is probably busy in some areas, but not in others. Then, we could do once our son is out of school, so whenever beginning May 22, 2009. Any ideas or suggestions as to when and where to go? It'll be Dh and me, DS (almost 7 then) and baby will be almost 1. I am really thinking Gatlinburg as that would have plenty for the boys to do and baby and I can relax. Thanks in advance!

You should have decent luck for end of May as most NE schools are still in session. Gatlinburg in April might be rainy--I would rather have end of May. Also, have you considered Hilton Head? There are lots of nice MArriotts there that trade via II and that is not prime summer season yet, so your chances of getting a Marriott end of May would be good--and the weather would be great.

May might be better as far as weather. If you go in April to Gatlinburg, I would try for Westgate Smoky Mountains resort - they have a terrific indoor water park with a lazy river. Or, I would try for one of the Hilton Head Marriotts (especially if you go in May). If you went to Hilton Head for April, I would definitely try for one of the Marriotts that have indoor pools - like the Surfclub or Barony. Oops - I meant Marriott Surfwatch instead of Surfclub.

April is not generally a good time for Gatlinburg. It's not pretty green or white as a rule. I'd say don't list this area initially but add it later if pickins looks slim. Personally I'd say Marriott's in places like HH, Williamsburg and West Palm area would be good places reasonable to get but a fair exchange. Hyatt's including Key West would be good choices. There are several Caribbean options.

Surfwatch, Barony and Grande Ocean all have indoor pools. MB might be another good area, several nice resorts there worth staying if you are partial to the redneck riviera (term applicable to Panama City or MB).

Thanks for the replies. Although I would love HH, I think it's a bit far for us to drive with baby. I'll have to check how far it is from here, though. Thanks again!!

Does anyone has any information on Escapes at Orange Beach? I know the Alabama Gulf Coast is absolutely beautiful with the sugar white sand beaches. Like Dean said, OP you may absolutely love the "Redneck Riviera."

I don't think Orange Beach and Gulf Shores are quite as bad as PC and MB. Someone once chastised me for referring to PC that way, my reply "you obviously haven't been there". It's been a while since I've seen Escapes there and I know they've done a lot of building since then. They've sure come a long way since the old Cooper Shares Organization offering executive retreats.
