Question for glasses wearers

Last time I went to WDW...I took my glasses off for most of the "faster" rides, but in retrospect, I'm not sure it was necessary on some of them. Any glasses wearers have any tips as far as which rides I can keep them on vs ones I should probably take them off? I was thinking Rockin' Rollercoaster and Space Mountain would give me the most trouble.

I've been to wdw over two dozen times. Never take my glasses off for anything. Never had any problems. Keep them on. There is so much to see!

I take mine off before the drop on Splash Mountain. Not because they will fall off but because they will get soaked! Also, this should be obvious but never under estimate the power of a wave at Typhoon Lagoon no matter how far back you are from the initial wave. It can knock you over! My hubby lost his sun glasses this way...

I don't take mine off on anything. I don't even wear an elastic strap at WDW anymore (except in the TL wave pool), but I do at Six Flags and other theme parks with more extreme roller coasters.

Only time I ever lost glasses was getting off of Kali and DH knocked them off, then stepped on them!

My nearsightedness is extreme, and it honestly didn't occur to me to take off my glasses at any point during the three trips I've made as an adult. Space Mtn, Everest, Splash Mtn, ToT, Rockin Roller Coaster...none of them were at all problematic. Assuming your glasses fit properly, I wouldn't worry about it at all.

I have never had a problem in previous trips (this year I had contacts).
Wore my glasses on everything.

I never took mine off for anything either (or any roller coaster, even outside of Disney ) on our last trip on Big Thunder, on one of the drops my right hand flew up and went inside my glasses right where the lens meets the earpiece and continued upward pulling them off my head. They were between my thumb and fore finger, luckily I have quick reflexes and closed their escape route or surely they'd still be hanging around somewhere on Big Thunder and I would have been in my old pair (I always carry my last "old" prescription, in case).

My glasses fit perfectly and this was a fluk, I'm sure - but now my glasses come off on any roller coaster and get tucked into their case and zipped in my bag .. along with my cap! Fortunately I can see distance and most up close stuff, just don't ask me to read a book

Thanks for all the replies! I think I'm going to leave them on for everything. They're pretty snug (might get an adjustment beforehand to be sure), so I don't think I have to worry much. I remember my dad telling me he lost his on Space Mountain back in the late 70's, so I've always been hesitant!

Wearing my glasses makes me nervous but DH has gone to Disney all his life with glasses and has never had any problems.

As a child I'm sure I didn't take my glasses off for anything but the waterparks, but that was before some of the faster rides existed. My adult trips I've all worn contacts, but if I did go in glasses I wouldn't take them off. I can't stand not being able to see. If you're really worried about it do what my dad's friend does and wear one of those straps. Not the most fashionable, but functional.

I have glasses and I don't take them off for rides, even roller coasters. I've never had any problems; not even on ones like Manta, Kraken, Rock'n'Roller Coaster, Griffon, etc.

I got my son and I those straps to hold them on since this will be our first time to as glasses wearers, but my hubby has worn them his whole life and never lost them on a ride. For the record he does go on space mountain, but not RNRC.

Never had any problems leaving my glasses on. Although on ToT it felt like they were gonna slide off.

Glasses were a LOT heavier back then; it was actually glass in the lenses! And when I got my first pair of glasses in the 80s I don't remember any sort of fitting like they do now, with them heating up the arms, etc etc. Today's lightweight, well-fitted glasses shouldn't do what his glasses did.


I think I took them off for Hulk at Universal and maybe Dragon Challenge. But that's mainly because I was terrified and didn't WANT to see anything.
