Question for frequent visitors to Animal Kingdom Lodge regarding standard view rooms

Hello!! I'm staying at the AKL in a couple weeks and I'm thrilled about it! I've stayed twice before and both times I paid for a standard view which turned out to be a (partial) savannah view, which I absolutely loved.

My question to those who stay more frequently... is it worth taking the gamble to keep my standard view and hope for even a partial savannah view? I've read that the savannah is so big that most standard view rooms do get at least a partial view.

Just checking for other people's experiences here - thank you!!!

If you are referring to Jambo House, you could request Kudo Trail. All standard views on the Kudo Trail will have a partial savanna view. The standard views on the Zebra Trail will either overlook the Uzima Pool or have a partial savanna view.

That is a hard question to answer.
There are a fair number of rooms that overlook the bus area and parking lot. Also a few rooms that have a view of a tree.
I have not looked at the Map again if you stick with Standard request a room on the trail that is to left on the map that will give you the best chance. Near Lobby, Bus, elevator and more will increase your chances of a parking lot view.
The resorts and parks were very crowded recently it seems this may have slowed but October can be busy as the weather is nicer. If you get a parking lot view and that will ruin your trip I suggest you upgrade there is just 0 way of knowing although your chances of getting a partial view are higher than not it is still a gamble.

My sister, mother, and I all stayed at Jambo this summer. They both had standard rooms and were on Kudu Trail. Both had great views of the savanna. Enjoy your trip, AKL is beautiful.

A few options. If you made the reservation yourself call and ask to have your request noted on your reservation (if you used a TA ask them to do it). Touring Plans offers a room request feature that many people use - I don't use them personally so I'll let others chime in on input.

There are some very basic room request options when doing online check-in but for most resorts they are usually inaccurate or may not even be aligned with your reservation type (a significant flaw with Disney IT and online check-in) so the usual recommendation is to leave that blank if you choose to do online check-in.

Thank you! I gave reservations a call and requested same. Also, has anyone ever requested a late checkout, what what success have you had (meaning was the request approved, and how long past 11am did they let you stay?)
