We will be at DW for 5 nights at the Saratoga Spring and are using DVC points from a friend who was kind enough to let us use the balance of his points that were set to expire.

It is my understanding that Mousekeeping will only come once during that 5 night period. What should I estimate for tipping? Do you still tip on a per person per night basis?

I have been doing research about purchasing DVC and ran across a thread on this subject and most members say they don't tip, because that is covered in their yearly dues.

I see no need to tip on a per night basis since mousekeeping will not be coming every day.

It really is a personal preference. Housekeeping is not a tipped position but many guests like to leave something to show their appreciation. We do not tip on DVC stays but do tip when we stay at a hotel on cash. At DVC we do most of the cleaning ourselves and do not get daily housekeeping so I see no need to tip. On our last morning I run the dishwasher, strip the beds and take out the trash so I feel that we do our part to help turn the room over. If Housekeeping goes out of their way for us for some reason or helped us with something extra then I'd definitely leave a tip, but we do not leave one for a regular DVC stay.

Again, it's personal preference. You should leave a tip if you want to, but not feel obligated to leave one if you don't want to.

If I have daily housekeeping then yes I tip daily, but for T&T, no I do not tip.

We don't tip Mousekeeping. We spend all our tip money on Valets, Bell Services, and Sky Caps. :thumbsup2

For a 5 night stay, you will get trash & towel service on day 4. They actually do less than a regular hotel room, they just replace towels & soap and take out the trash (no making the bed or cleaning). So whatever you would leave in a regular hotel for 1 night. If they did a good job, I usually leave a tip on check-out (figuring they will do a full cleaning).

We do not tip when staying on DVC points. We keep the unit nice take trash out and clean the dishes as well.

However if it is a cash visit with daily mousekeeping we always tip

Being they will only be there cleaning for you one time I would tip $4-$5 per person.....that is how we always handle it.

Have a great time!

WOW! Do you really tip $4-5 per person? We usually tip $5 per night for all of us. That's in a standard hotel room, but even in a room comparable to a 2BR I'd only tip $10 per night, max. Maybe I'm cheap, but I can't see tipping $20 per day for housekeeping.

Just curious...how much do others leave?

Just back from our first DVC trip :yay: and had read about the non tipping.
It is not in my nature
so we tipped $5 on full service day (for 2 of us in a studio) and $2 on T&T day.

We do the same as you. Even though I tie up the garbage and leave the towels in the tub for Mousekeeping, we leave $2-$3 for T&T and $5 for full cleaning.
