My brother got us one for Christmas, the Phillips 7 inch.....about $50. It's great, I'd really like one, but it only plays pictures from a USB flash drive, or a memory card/stick.

I have lots of pictures on my computer that I'd like to put on the frame....I don't store pictures on a memory card at all. Is there a digital photo frame that lets me take pictures from my computer (via USB cable???) that I can exchange my Phillips one for??

I got a Kodak EasyShare frame...no clue how much it was, it was from my DH. It stores up to 4000 photos on the internal memory.

doesn't need the card, or a flash drive...I can connect directly to my computer via USB cable and download them onto the frame.
It also has an option that allows me to create a collage and slideshow. It's really cool!

I have a PanDigital that I bought for my cousin's wedding and kept for myself (looong story :rolleyes1). I LOVE it! I put all of my pictures from my computer on a memory card and downloaded them to the internal memory on the frame.

Good luck!

Michelle :flower3:

I am able to use the camera's cord that plugs into the computer. I just plug it into the frame and am able to download pictures that way.

This is a wonderful forum I recently just used to purchase a digital photo frame.

http://forum.digitalpictureframereview.com/

There is a section called "what should I buy". Brian was very helpful. He posts everyday. Has many of the models there so if you have a question about if a certain model does a certain thing, he can check it out for you & get back if he doesn't already know.

They also have a review section.

I wasn't even aware there were frames out there with NO internal memory storage at all. Ours has 2GB of internal memory. Its an HP DreamScreen, but considerable more than $50 though. Sorry.

It does have internal memory....I'm guessing that's what it's called. I can save pictures from my memory card to the frame.....but it's not USB cable available.....I can't get my pictures from my computer to the frame.

For someone that keeps all their pictures on their memory card I'm sure that's not a problem, but I take them and download them.....then erase the memory card. So with this frame there's no way I can get my old pictures onto the frame.

thanks for the replies

Take the pics from computer & write them to the card, then put card in frame & move them to the internal memory on frame.

I'm assuming you have the ability to do that however. We put SD cards into our computer, and sends pictures from computer to card. And just watch from the card on the frame. That's only 1 method of how we watch though.

I've also done USB cable from computer. And ours has wifi, so I can watch pictures that are actually stored only on our computer & not even in the frame or on a card.

We had a great time using is yesterday while everyone was over. It even plays Pandora.com music stations & all your friends Facebook photo galleries.

I can't imagine anyone using memory cards for permanent storage. That would get really expensive. I think everyone probably does it like you do.

However, it's very easy to do the same thing in reverse. Just choose the pics from your computer that you want on the frame, copy them to a blank card, then put the card in your frame. Then you can erase the card again. :thumbsup2

I hope you're backing them up in some way! External hard drive, CD/DVD, something.

That's what I was going to say. Though I wouldn't know how to do it with current computer/current camera. Old camera, old computer I did it, though...

On your computer, open a new folder in "My Pictures." Copy all the photos you want to see on your frame into this new folder. Put a flash drive into one of the USB ports on your computer, and copy the folder onto the flash drive. This makes it really easy -- any time you want to add new pictures to your frame, you just take the flash drive out of the frame, put it back in the computer, and add the new pictures to the same folder, and recopy to the flash drive. That's what we had to do with the digital frame my parents gave us, and it's worked out really well. Flash drives are cheap, and this method is easy.

Yep, this is what I did for MIL and FIL. I gave them digital frames as gifts and set up flash drives for both of them. Very easy and I'm not a technical kind of person.
