I have a desktop PC and will be getting a Macbook Pro soon. I'd like to be able to work on my school Word/Excel files on both computers and was wondering if I got a network drive that it would work seamlessly with both computers. I'd probably just be sharing office files between Office 2007 and Mac Office 2008, photo and video files.

A network drive should work fine. I have two PCs and an iMac that share a network drive. The iMac could access the drive without any special software/drivers, my PC's (Win XP) required the software that came with the drive. Newer drives may integrate more seamlessly than this.

If you have enough hard drive capacity on your MacBook you might want to consider installing Windows on your Mac using Boot Camp, Parallels etc. I installed XP on my iMac, it's like getting a PC for free. As I've discovered, a lot of useful software is not available for Mac, so having the dual capability really comes in handy.

Thanks Barbossa,
I probably will eventually put Windows on it. :)
