***Update - We got the call around 7:30 p.m. My DH was cast in the ensemble, but I was not cast. I'm really happy for him, he did awesome, but I am more disappointed for myself than I thought I'd be. Excited for him though, and can't wait to see the show!***

Help! I made the last minute decision to audition for "Rent" at 1:00 this afternoon. The audition info says to come dress comfortably for dance. What is appropriate to wear? I definitley want to be comfortable, but don't want to look too casual for the other parts of the audition either.

I haven't auditioned for anything in a really long time...what is appropriate to wear if there is a dance audition involved?

Thanks in advance!

I think this reply is too late to help you but just wanted to say that I hope the audition went well! I LOVE musical theatre and just finished up doing a run of "Joseph" in our local city. So much fun!!! Rent is a great show and I wish you all the best in the audition!!!!

Thanks! It's at 1:00...I think I figured it out. I'm wearing a denim skirt with black capri leggings and a v-neck vintage Madonna t-shirt. Hopefully will help me look a little younger! LOL!

I did Joseph a long time ago...that was my favorite show I've ever been in to this point!

Rent is among my top three shows that I NEED to be in at some point in my life - my husband is auditioning too since only three guys have auditioned so far and they need at least 10. He wants to be Collins, except I'm not sure if that will work because we have a Disney trip planned right in the middle of rehearsals.

So...we're okay with whatever happens, but at least we can say we tried!

Thanks again for the good luck wishes!

Sounds like a good choice! Yes... it is always so hard to cast guys. There are never enough to go around!! My hubby does theatre too. Finished Sweeney Todd this spring and loved it!! Joseph was such a "feel good show" to do. Myself and three kids were in it. The two youngest in the children's ensemble and my 15 year old was brother Gad. It was a cool family experience for sure! Neither my husband or me are doing anything else now until next summer's South Pacific (yes... this company casts their whole season at one time!). I am ensemble but he scored Billis. It should be fun!
Let us know how the audition went!!!!! Break a leg!

Just got back! My DH did awesome, he'll make it for sure. Not exactly sure how I did...I feel like it went okay. Just not sure how much our Disney trip will hurt us...being out for a week.

We are supposed to get a phone call tonight already though!

I hope you both get in. That would be fun. For the future, you try to dress like the character, in dancable clothes.

Congrats to your DH on getting cast! I haven't done a show in about a year - I'm really missing it!!

So sorry that you didn't get in. :grouphug: Wow... they sure do decide on their cast quickly. They don't do callbacks? It is always a disappointment to not get cast, especially when it is a show you really want to do but, take heart, there will be something else for you down the line! Here's hoping that your hubby has a great experience in the show! :dance3:
