Question for CitiMini stroller owners

I just purchased our citi mini double stroller, and I am super excited about it, but also a little nervous because it was so pricey - I don't want anything to happen to it! Do any of you have any tips for taking care of it during the trip - we are planning on putting a big sign on it that has our name. My husband wants to always take the wheel off when we go on attractions - is this really reasonable or a good idea?
Or are there better ways for making sure it doesn't get stolen?
Also, for those of you that have gone to WDW with one, how did it go, was it easy to get on and off the buses? Are there any accessories that I should make sure to get?
Any other tips would be appreciated!!
Thanks! :goodvibes

We did not have a Citi, but we had a double (front/back) stroller. I put return address label stickers on several locations, so that if anyone stole it, it was unlikely they would find all those areas. However, at the same time, this is DisneyWorld? Do people really risk getting kicked out of DW for their ticket purchase price? Anyway, I learned to leave the stroller behind when we would ride the railroad around MK and never had any problems with it.

I took my single seat red/black Baby Jogger city mini stroller to WDW in Oct 2008. I bought it specifically for the trip (I'm so glad I decided it buy it! It is awesome  and will be coming back with us to WDW this Dec!). I did not lock it or in any way disable it while on attractions. I will say I did almost have a heart attack  when I came back for the stroller one time and it wasn't where I had left it! However, I quickly became used to the cast members moving and rearranging the strollers in the stroller parking areas. I found there to be many, many expensive strollers around, such that mine didn't look particularly more valuable than the lot.

I recommend getting a drink holder (I got the Joovy brand one from BRU and it works for this stroller too) and a rain cover (again, from BRU, the generic baby jogger stroller cover). Most of the stroller parking is not covered, so it's great to be able to cover it up and keep it dry while you are in watching a show or riding an attraction.

My 2-year old would nap in it during the afternoon since it reclines fully flat. And you can't beat how easily it folds and fits in tight places. I had no problems on monorails or other transportation.

We don't have a City Mini, but just wanted to reassure you that I have seen many expensive, expensive strollers (Bugaboo's, Bob's, Phil and Teds, etc...) simply parked with all the other strollers. I doubt anyone would touch your stroller, but at any rate I would label it well. I think you are more likely to have a bag or item stollen from it than the entire stroller. We always take anything valuable off the stroller so it doesn't look too enticing. ;)

We run a retractable bike lock thru the wheels and the doubles seat of our stroller. CMs can move it but no one would want to push/pull it on 1 wheel very far. It's been moved across the 'parking lot' no trouble. We never locked up a stroller ever before but heard of a few walking off and decided to no longer risk it.

We have taken our Baby Jogger City Classic stroller (even more pricey than the mini LOL) for the past 2 years (6 trips) and have never locked, disabled, or even put the brake on our stroller. We leave it in the stroller parking areas and go about our rides, shows and meals. We have never had a problem & don't plan on changing our security methods for our upcoming trip. I personally would find it too annoying and time consuming to constantly have to lock and unlock a bike chain, or remove a wheel every time we go on a ride. Those wheels are pretty big & I wouldn't want to have to carry one around on the rides either.

Subscribing to this thread. We just got the same stroller and I'm interested in what the "must haves" are too! :) Has anyone used the cooler that straps on to the bottom?

I've have my BJCM for a few weeks now, and I :lovestruc it! We had to park it at the zoo twice the other day, and I was a little nervous about it. The wheels DO pop off very easily, but I can't imagine toting a wheel around on the rides, and a lock seems like a real pain in the butt.

We're renting a BJCM double, and I plan to get insurance on it in case it disappears. We might end up taking our single to the park when older DD wants to walk, so I just plan on attaching a very visible name tag that would be really hard to get off...like attached with a zip tie you'd have to cut off. I think the more distinctive you make it, the less chance of someone "accidentally" walking off with it.

As for accessories, I got the parent console when I ordered it, and I think its a must-have. It has a cup holder, plus two nice sized velcro compartments (one is insulated). When DD is a little older and eating snacks, I plan on getting the snack tray.

It's a great stroller - I think you'll really like it! The easy fold is SO great, and it folds really flat and its pretty lightweight. It's super easy to steer and DD seems really comfortable in it.

So glad to be reassured of what I already felt - I really don't anticipate someone stealing it, but I really would be heartbroken if someone did :sad2:

I looked into the parent console but someone on amazon said that the sunshine kids console actually fits the double better and costs SO much less - anyone tried that brand. And where would I find an off brand rain cover for the double?

Do you guys think that I should get the full stroller bag thingy for the airport?? I have never worried about any of my other stroller like I am with this one:confused3
It's going to be like my 3rd child for awhile :rotfl: we just don't usually spend this kind of money for baby things, but we unexpectedly just found out we are expecting another baby and I just said "thats it! I am getting a really good stroller!"

We took our BJCM double last trip. I would recommend putting your name on it somewhere, but I think taking the wheel off would be a nuisance. The first time I went with a stroller to Disney, we brought a lock for the wheels and locked it for the first few rides we did...what a pain...that didn't last long LOL!

I HIGHLY recommend getting the parent console, the one made by BJ, it is PRICEY, but so worth it. We liked it so much we ended up buying another one for the other side.

The stroller is not terribly heavy so it worked out okay for the busses. The biggest pain was that this stroller doesn't latch and stay closed. DH actually brought straps so that it would stay closed, but it wasn't real convenient for him to "wrap" it up every time. (I've heard the new ones have a latch/strap for folding, maybe you won't have that issue).

We were able to walk it onto the busses and boats.:thumbsup2

You'll love it!

Thanks! I haven't gotten it yet, hoping to get it this week so that we can take it to our fair next week and try it out!
my husband did notice that there was no strap on the floor model we looked at, maybe the one they send will have one though, I thought about making my own but it sounds like maybe its not worth it, huh?

Oh and I just looked on the website and it said that it has a strap to keep it folded, guess I'll see for sure in a few days!

There actually IS a strap, it's underneath the seat, but for the life of me I can't figure it out and neither can DH.

It doesn't hurt to bring a bungy cord type strap, because when you are dealing with multiple kids, it can be a nuisance on the bus, when the stroller keeps unfolding. By the end of the trip DH was pretty good at strapping it up. ;)

I have 4 words for you...YOU WILL LOVE IT! I got it a couple of months ago and can't wait to take it on our trip. I did not buy the cooler but have rigged up one that we already owned and it looks like it will work perfectly. I plan to remove a back wheel when we leave it unattended. It is easy and not too heavy and most importantly will give me peace of mind!

Awww.. you think just like me, I saw that cooler and thought, thats neat, but I bet I could rig up my own cooler to it, plus I heard that that cooler is really tiny! How did you rig it up?

Please please please let me know how the wheel thing worked, I see you are going in a week and I would love to hear if it was doable or annoying THANKS!!

I bought cooler. I don't have the mini I have an Elite - it was the my present to myself for our 3rd daughter. And specifically for Disney. I also have the jump seat & shade canopy for the jump seat. both will come with us to DIsney. I put frozen juice boxes in the cooler and it works fine. You can't fold the stroller up all the way if there is stuff in the cooler so keep that in mind. I also have a Skip*Hop saddle bag for the stroller to keep the diapers & wipes handy. It straps to the side wonderfully & as long as it is put on high enough the stroller folds up with that on it. The jump seat has to be taken off though. The Elite has lots of storage space on the back & underneath too. Not sure about the mini though. I have our name written in permanant marker in a couple hidden places - inside of the shade cover & someplace else but I can't remember where right now. I zip tie a hard laminated sign to the handles of our stroller - I had it laminated at Kinkos - It is 1 Mickey head for DH one Minnie head for me & 3 smaller minnie heads for DD's - It has The Frank Family across the middle with Franklinville, NJ in smaller print under ourt name and a LGMH next to that. SO if anybody sees that --- Hey It's me from the DIS! Come say hello!

I am about to get this stroller and am so excited! (LOL the things I get excited about now are so different from 10 years ago :rotfl2:) I bought the car seat adapter for the 2009 off of craigslist for $45. I do have a few questions:

1. Is there a generic rain cover that would work?
2. Does anyone use the stroller with the skip hop duo double diaper bag?

Yes. I have a generic rain cover and it fits just fine.

Oh I am so jealous that you found the car seat adapter for 45! I guess I will have to keep an eye out for that! I didn't know that skip hop made a saddle bag, have to look into that too.

For the pp that said she had the jump seat, what are the ages of your kids, I don't think weight wise mine would all fit - but I did laugh at your comment about it being a gift to yourself after 3rd child, thats exactly why I got mine :rotfl:
