OK, we just bought a Weber Performer (charcoal grill). After the we assembled her and took her for a test drive, we are perplexed as what to do. The charcoals are still burning hot! Do we just let it sit and burn out by itself? How do we extinguish it? Pardon our ignorance, as this is our first grill EVER!

We just let ours die on its own. I just take my food off the grill, and walk away. It cools down over time.

you just close the air vents ( they should be on the cover). With no air it should die out

I love my charcoal grill, I thought I was the last person who did that!! ;)

Since they stay hot for a long time I usually sit potatoes in aluminum foil in there while they're cooling. Result? Great baked potatoes without turning on an oven! :thumbsup2

we dont close our airvents, and we leave the top off,so the charcoal burns all out and all that is left is ash. much easier to clean up, than half burnt charcoal briquets.

We just let them die out. We recently bought a charcoal grill and just love it! The flavor is wonderful.

I love my Weber charcoal grill!:thumbsup2

Just put the lid on the grill and the coals will die down on their own.
