When you recieve a gift off of your registry... is it just that the money goes on the card and you purchase it later on??

So do you really have to use it on that item that was purchased?

The $$ just goes on the card. You can actually use it however you wish. The registry helps people feel like they are getting you something rather than just giving you money.

One thing... you might want to prepare what you'll say when people ask you how you enjoyed the [insert honeymoon experience here] that they bought you when you actually used the money to buy Mickey bars instead! :rotfl:

Carrie, thanks great point to keep in mind.

Yeah, Carrie makes an excellent point. We thought about that when we started our Disney Honeymoon Registry. We've decided to only register for things we REALLY will use it for. (ie...our fave restaurants we go to everytime we're there, merchandise I KNOW I want, photopass, etc) Also, on the registry you can register for "Fantasy Funds" in increments of $25 & $10. Thats another option...then you won't have to explain what or what-not you used the money for. But beware this option as well...because it only works for guests who don't mind giving just cash, not an actual present. :thumbsup2 HTH!

Yes, we had someone "buy" us the champagne flutes AFTER the wedding. Ummmm, isn't it too late to bother with them at that point???? :rolleyes1 Luckily it was someone that will never be at our house, but come on!

Brilliant, love it! Good point too :thumbsup2

We are going to go for the registry rather than a list at some store. There will only be 9 guests and no UK reception so we are hoping we might get some Disney moolah. We weren't going to bother with anything but a couple of people got quite narky that we didn't want gifts!!

For us... I feel the registry is great, it's a devious way to just get cash! :rotfl2:
We are only registering with Disney, so we can use all the funds on our honeymoon... are we really going to use that Disney Spa Package for 2? No. But, I know that most people looking at the registry will be like, "Oh, this is perfect" and fork it over. :stir: A little underhanded, I know, but on the other hand... if we are forthcoming and say just cash, some people just don't think cash is an appropriate gift, and this way we both get what we want.

I am fully prepared to let people know after we spend their "gift", that it was just cash! ;)
