If you do the Wild Africa Trek, do you still see any reason to do the regular Kilimanjara Safari ride too? Or would that really be unnecessary, and maybe even a disappointment after doing the Trek?

Thanks in advance!

I have done the Trek and yes I still did the safari. In fact I did it multiple times the same day I did the Trek. You see different things on the Safari. With the Trek we emphasized the hippos and crocs.

I did the WAT and LOVED it!!! I wouldn't say that KS would be a 'disappointment' at all, but perhaps it would be redundant. You see more on the Trek than you do on the Safari, but the Safari would still be fun....that's just me.

We went on the trek 2 weeks ago and with the weather we were spent! Having done AK so many times, we felt no need to so the Safari or any other shows/rides and went right to AKL and napped in the Club Lounge. Having spent theme park tickets on just that was enough but if you have never done Safari it would be cool to see the bridges you just crossed and all that.

We've done the WAF twice and we still do/did the Safari. You never know which animals you will see or the view of them you will get on any given trip. We had fantastic views of the giraffes on the WAF the first time but the second time we didn't see them as close. We actually were closer on the Safari. The animals move around depending on the time of day so what you miss on one you may see on the other.

Thanks everyone! I was going to plan to do both, but I wanted to make sure that wouldn't be a waste. I think we might end up at AK for 1 full day and 1 half day, so maybe I will use the half day to do the regular safari since we are doing the trek our full day.

Just wanted to add that we did the first morning Trek two weeks ago and I planned on an evening safari fastpass for a different view and because i knew there would be more animals to see on the regular safari but DD(12) said no thank you I cannot go backwards. She absolutely loved the Trek and wanted that to be her memory of the safari.

I was contemplating the same thing. Picking a night time to ride the regular safari. But with ROL up in the air, I'm hesitant to make any firm plans in the evening, so I may just play it by ear. It sounds like I shouldn't feel that I really missed out if I don't get to do the regular safari ride, but that if I have time I should experience it.

We didn't do Safari when we did the Trek. It just felt like a bit of a waste of time since there is a Safari portion of Wild Africa Trek.

As Twende said, you have different experience on safari vs. the Trek. My DW and I have done the Trek twice and both times we went on the safari 2 or more times.
