Question for AKV experts

We are going to compete in the Expedition Everest Challenge at the end of Sept at Animal Kingdom Park. AKL is 1 of the 3 hotels that Disney will provide transportation to and from for the event at Animal Kingdom Park. We were thinking about trying to use pts at AKV (not our home resort). What room categories/location should we try to request to be closest to the lodge? We are open to studio or 1-BDR. There are only 2 of us. Any help is appreciated.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Animal Kingdom Villas that currently exist are in the same building so all are "closest to the lodge," the villas are on top floor. The new Kidani building (all DVC) won't be open in September. Room choice depends on what you want. Vast majority of DVC rooms are savanna point cost rooms and give savanna view (which is excellent). "Standard" are the same size rooms as savanna point cost but with pool or parking lot view. "Value" are just much smaller rooms and can be parking lot or savanna view. Because of fewer number of rooms, value and standard may be somewhat difficult to get at 7 months.

would go for a standard - they are not to far from the lobby and to get to the buses you must go through the lobby (then you go through the gift shop)

values I think would work too. If LisaS map is correct - and so far - she is not wrong!!!

you don't want a Savannah View - then it might be a far walk.
