I like to play around on the Disney reservation site a lot of times and see what pricing is for different things. Lately, I have been on there trying to figure out about how much the honeymoon will cost. I was wanting to get a dining plan while we were there to save a bit of money, but I can't for the life of me figure out how. Does the dining plan only come with a ticket and room packgage, and if so, how would that work out for us disney brides who get the APs?

Sarah

The dinning plan comes with a package including room and tickets. But what AP holders do is only buy a ticket for 1 day(you do have to buy it for each person in the room). That can later be used to upgrade a pass or use as a credit to purchase an AP in the future.(since you will be getting the AP's for free) DVC members are also allowed to purchase the dining plan without having a package or buying any park passes.

Also, they just started allowing AP holders to buy the Dining Plan without having to buy a MYW ticket. :thumbsup2

However, if your aim is to save money, the Dining Plan is generally acknowledged to be a break-even proposition at best. Check out this article for more info about the value of the Disney Dining Plan.

But the Disney Dining Experience - now called Tables in Wonderland - program does save you money. The card gives you 20% off food and beverages, including alcohol, at almost every restaurant on property. It is available only to Florida residents and annual passholders - that'll be you!

Here's more info on that program.

That sounds wonderful! I will seriously be looking into that. Thanks!

Don't forget when using the DDE at TS restaurants an automatic 18% gratuity is added. i know most people tip that, but a lot don't know its automatically added on to the bill.

We're big fans of the dining plan and have used it 4 times now. We really like not looking at the prices on the menu, if it sounds good just get it! It's also nice that you don't have to budget your 'food money' during your trip. I think the DP $37.99 per person per day. If you use it right, you come out ahead. It's plenty of food and you get a whole new experience trying out all the different restaurants! I guess you either love it or hate it; we love it!

so what about if you're there during a time when they're offereing the free DDP? Is it possible to get this when you've got the AP and hotel booked through your room block?

If you are booked in your wedding block you can't get it. They only allow you one discount or perk at a time.

ie: you are paying a lower rate room so no free dining or you pay regular price for your room during the wedding(it can still be counted toward your nights) and get free dining.
