Just wondering if this is to be expected.

We booked our trip for next March back in April. DH, myself and 3 girls are flying down. When I booked the flight I had DH, myself and our 4 year old in row 22, then our 2 DD's 10 & 12 in front of us in row 21 .

I just went on to Delta to check our itinerary and they've changed our seats all to row 32. Now they have our DD's in the same row as us but across the aisle. Our DD's are flying for the first time so we wanted them in front of us.

Is this to be expected? I think I can make changes but why did they do this and will this affect our tickets? I've looked on our print out receipts and they clearly say row 21 etc. Will this cause problems?

Thanks.

Chances are they changed the type of plane or combined flights. It's pretty easy to change seats on Delta, you can bring up the seat chart online on their website and change your seats (if available). It doesn't matter what seats are on your original receipt, what matters is what is on your boarding pass when you check-in. No airline guarantees specific seats in advance, they are requested seats.

I would think it would be better to have your daughters across the aisle where they can see you, rather than in front of you.

This has happened to us about six times since we made our reservations last October. Call Delta and get your seats reassigned (if possible). I check our reservations almost every day now because we were originally in the front of the plane and now we are in the back for one leg. If I had checked daily back then I might have been able to get us close to what I originally chose. The airlines are allowed to do this anytime a change is made to a flight...it could be that they changed the actual aircraft that they are using or it could simply be a matter of a ONE minute change in flight time. Check EVERY day....and be happy that you are still sitting together because even THAT is not guaranteed. The sooner you realize that there has been a change - the sooner you can get your seats reassigned.

We are flying Delta in April. There are 11 of us flying together so I would like to keep an eye on the seats. Where would I go on their website to check on this?

Check the "Itinerary" section....you will need to put the confirmation number and first and last name of the person that made the reservation.

Good luck!!

You're lucky they gave you seats. The last time I flew Delta we went to check-in and they couldn't find my reservation. It took the agent a while to find it and they ended up putting us on standby. This was on our return flight home and I had checked everything beofre the start of the trip and my seats were assigned. I guess they combined flights and forgot to assign us seats or something. Before you leave on your trip, call the airline and re-confirm everything.
