Question DCL w/points

I have an April reservation on DCL I will not be able to use. DVC tells me if I cancel I must reuse points for DCL or Disney hotels in 2008, which I also won't be able to do. Any alternative advice?

Welcome to the Dis-Boards.

One important point is that they have to be used during your 2008 use year (if they were 2008 points which it sounds like they were) which may well stretch beyond 2008, so maybe you will be able to use them after all?

They will be reservation points instead of DVC points which limits their use and value for renting purposes if you choose to try that avenue. Check out the rent/trade board and see if you can find any listings for reservation points.

Remember, too, that in 2008, you will have to pay a $95 fee for any non-DVC reservation. You have already paid that for the cruise, so maybe that will transfer to your non-DVC reservation.

Unfortunately, you can't use these points for any DVC stay and they cannot be banked.

Would you be able to use them for a later cruise?

The penalties for cancelling a cruise booked on points are quite lengthy and are shown on your DVC Reservation form that you received.
