Question Concerning Recently-Received Add-On Points and Closing

I recently purchased an add-on at VWL for 100 points. I put up a down payment and signed all of the forms. The estimated closing date is August 15 and I'd like to make a reservation for DW on August 15, it so happens, for OKW in March.

I can see my points on the member's website, but I am not allowed to bank them online. Someone from member admin said something to me about manual banking.

My UY is April and I have banked other points within this UY.

Question: Will I be able to book the OKW reservation, subject to availability, and bank my points even if the closing date of August 15 slips?

I would certainly want to bank the remainder of those 100 points by the end of September.

You can make a reservation now for any date after 8/15 with the add-on points, even if you have not closed. If you are waiting for the 7 month window to open, you will still be able to reserve using those points when that window opens.

I am not clear about your banking question. If the reservation is in March, which is in your current UY, you will not want to bank those points.

You have until Sept to bank 100% of your points and until Dec to bank 50% of you points. So, if you have 400 total points but have already banked 200, you will need to bank the add-on points not needed for the March ressie by Sept 30. But if you have only banked 100 so far, you will have until Dec to bank the remaining add-on points.

Even if your closing does not occur by 8/15, with VWL points, you will almost certianly close before 9/30.

The points are in your account so you can start using them right now. Your dues on those points started the day they were deposited into your account, so you can start using them immediately. You could call today to use them for a reservation, bank them, whatever. You could even take a trip using those points prior to closing. The only "gotcha" on that last one is that if you used some/all of the points prior to your closing date and then backed out of the add-on purchase, you would be charged rack rate for those nights (they would deduct the cost of your trip from your deposit).

I just logged onto the DVC member's website and I can now bank my points. So this issue isn't an issue anymore.
