Question: changing travel dates

We're planning to go back to WDW in the summer of 2012. We go for 10 nights in a 1-bedroom, and our home resort is BWV. We book at the 11-month mark. So, even though we can't book until August at the earliest, we are starting to plan! ;)

A very close family friend got engaged recently. She and her fiance are planning to get married in the summer of 2012, but they haven't set a date yet. I am very close with her, like family. I would definitely not miss her wedding. I would imagine that by this summer, they will have a set date, but I'm not totally sure.

So, my question is...if we don't know by August when the wedding will be, and I book our trip, what happens if the wedding is during those dates and I have to change the trip dates? Do 1-bedroom villas book up very fast for BWV in the summer? One thing that's important...we will NOT be at WDW for July 4th, that's for sure. The earliest in the summer would be during the second week of July for our arrival. What's the likelihood of getting a 1-bedroom for 10 nights if we have to change our trip to August because of the wedding?

There really no way to know. But in your favor, the summer months are generally easier to get than most other times of the year and 1 bedrooms book up more slowly than the studios and 2 bedrooms.

FWIW, I think you will be OK as long as you can book before the 7 month window opens (December 2011). You could have a problem if you want boardwalk view or standard view, though.

Hope your friend decides enough in advance so that you don't make yourself crazy worrying about it. :)

1 bedrooms at BWV are usually more available than studios or 2 bedrooms. Summer isn't as busy for DVC as the fall (food & wine festival, Christmas activities).

Thanks guys!

I forgot to mention that we will be booking a standard view 1BR.

I'm sure we will know before the 7-month window in December. In NY, it is very hard to book a wedding less than a year in advance if you want to get married in the summer. Everything books up pretty quickly. If she knows in September and we have to change our dates to August instead of July, that would be great.
