Scammermom, if you want to do some online research, autismspeaks.org has a community board, where it's broken into different categories. It's definitely not for the faint-hearted, but you'll get a really good glimpse into what it's like to have autism, and parenting a child with autism. People from all walks of life post there, and it's very eye-opening to hear different experiences. I haven't read the Attwood book yet that Bookwormde recommended, but I've had many people tell me it's excellent.
