Does anyone have an opinion on the resort with the best pool area or beach area for my energetic little ones (3 year old ds and 1 year old ds)? We'll be at WDW March 11-16 '03. Thank you!
I would say the Polynesian. The pool has a zero entry which is great with little ones. The beach is right there for sand play. SAB is great but if your 3 year old is as active as my boys were at that age I would be worried about losing sight of him. It is so big and spread out so that you can't see everywhere at once. If however you have a quiet 3 year old who is not apt to try to conquer the world, SAB would be fine, too. However one of my sons got a very bad rash from playing in the synthetic sand in SAB. He does have VERY sensitive skin however and I haven't heard of anyone else having that problem.
My boys LOVED SAB when they were 3 last year. The kids area is separate from the main pool. They enjoyed playing in the sand and water. The snack bar serves kiddie meals in pails that the boys played with all afternoon. There also is a small water slide that is on the pirate ship. The boys wore their inflatable arm bands on this slide. They did not want to leave. They enjoyed SAB so much that we will be back at Thanksgiving (BCV)
SAB at YC/BC is great for all ages. Little ones love the sand, but still in a pool. AKL has a zero depth entry pool as well. The slide is nice, not too overwhelming. The 3 yr old would probably enjoy it. At AKL, they had the yellow foam life jackets available in two sizes for the kids. I believe that all the deluxe resorts offer them for their guests.
My then 1 year old loved the pool at the AKL because of the zero entry. He could play in the water without going all the way in and he really enjoyed it. My 5 year old loved the slide and she's a bit of a chicken-lol They also really loved looking at the animals at the lodge.
On our trip in July my ds was 3. His favorite pool was the AKL. He was able to finally go down a water slide. We also have a one year old and the zero entry pool is perfect for the little ones, I don't like kiddie pools I prefer to be with everyone else We also like the Polynesian pool. It is zero entry and it's great to sit in the pool with my youngest while keeping an eye on my ds as he goes to play in the sand or in the area with the water fountain.
