We are going to a neighbor holiday party and will be asked that question...any funny replies we could offer?

I have never attended a social function where you were asked to prepare responses to some questions ahead of time. People just mingle and make small talk at social functions I have attended. How do you know this is a question you will need to answer?

Sounds like it might be an ice-breaker question. Other than the neighbors on either side of us, and a couple of folks across the street, we don't really know anyone else on the block. The notion that people are encouraged to ask about others and tell a bit about themselves seems like a good idea to me. :)

We had a Manager from Corporate out and she asked each of us to tell her in one sentence what our primary job was.
I responded, "herding cats" to which caused the 15 or so co-workers in the conference room to burst into laughter.
By "herding cats" I meant, keeping them all in line.
But I was also among a group of employees that fed the feral cats in our parking lot, and THAT is how they took it.
