this will be the first time we didnt buy a package, so we have park hopper passes(1 we just picked up from AAA, and the other 3 we are purchasing from Guest Relations at POR. My question is this...can they put the park hopper on the room keys like the way the packages work? The hoppers are so flimsey, I'm afraid their going to be trashed after the first couple of days? I would appreciate any help I could get on this. Thank you.:)

Now I did not purchase my UPHs in advance, but when I purchased ours at the resort, they were on my room keys. I don't see why they cannot transfer them to your room key. But someone else may know better than I.

The one time we bought park hopper passes at the resort, they put the pass on our keys, but that has been several years ago. It's cheaper to buy your passes before going to WDW. If you buy them from WDW, you can request a pick-up at the resort too. There's a button when ordering from the Internet or if you call, they will hold them at your resort to save on S/H. I don't know if they put those on your room keys or not. If you are worried about them being flimsy, protect them in a small credit card wallet (I've seen these at discount stores). Also make sure you have your information on the back of the tickets just in case they get lost if they aren't on your room key. I've never had any difficulty with losing them and if they didn't work going through the machines at the entrances to the park, I just went to the guest relation area at the park and had them replaced.

They are no more fimsy than the annual passes that last a year. I don't think they will add tickets you already have to your room account key.

If you want park hopper or park hopper plus tickets put on your room key, you will have to buy them at the resort and pay the gate price.

Passes purchased in advance cannot be put on your room key. The only exception is the UPH (Length of Stay) ticket.

FWIW, I have had an annual pass for several years. The "paper" used is really very strong and durable. It is by no means flimsy!

So, let me understand this..if I wait to buy the tix at the resort, they will charge me like I was at the gate???? I won't get the advanced purchase price?

If you wait to buy your tickets from the resort when you arrive, you pay full price. You only get the discounted price for prebuying them before you go.

In mid-February I visited the Disney Store in Buffalo, NY and checked out the PH/PHP display there. As I understand it, these are the actual passes and not vouchers. They are the exact same construction as the payphone cards I purchase from Bell Canada -- credit card size card attached to a larger display card. Bend at the perforation and the card snaps off. After using up the money on these cards I give them to DD4 for play -- and they last just fine. Not flimsy at all. Chances are -- AAA has given you vouchers to claim your passes upon arrival.

The Disney Store is the only place that sells those hard-side passes. Everywhere else has the cardboard material that IS surprisingly durable.

Correct. But if you want the tickets to be on your resort ID/room key, that is the only way you can do it - pay gate price at the resort.

My advice is to buy the tickets in advance and forget about having them on your room key. The tickets are not flimsy. Unless you plan to run them through the washing machine several times :teeth: you will not have a problem.

Keep your receipt and make a copy of the numbers on the back of the ticket. If the tickets are lost or damaged, the receipt/copy of the numbers on the back will allow Disney (at any Guest Relations booth) to replace the tickets. All you'll lose is a little of your time.

Enjoy the trip!

Thanx everybody for all the help....I called Disney and confirmed that if I bought them at the Disney Store right before I left, it would not be charged gate price. I will also be copying the tix, just in case. Bummer that I cant have them added to room key, you would think that Disney could do that, since you have proof of the tickets you bought, oh well. Thanks again. You guys are the greatest. Have a Disney Day!!:earsboy:

I read a post a while back where someone said that the "flimsy" paper pass is actually made out of mylar. That's why it is so durable. Not sure if it's true or not, though.

If you buy them at the Disney Store there is no need to copy the back of the tickets... When you buy at TDS, you will get a 2nd receipt with all the ticket information on it for you :D Just bring the 2nd receipt with you and keep it in a "DIFFRENT" safe place then your park tickets and you should be all set
