Question about WL Room Request

Hi everyone,
We are staying at the WL in October and have a CY room booked with bunks. I heard that its best to request a main pool view room. We will be getting there pretty early (we are driving and will be staying in another hotel off property the night before) so I am hoping that will help us get a room request. So when can you request this, and what do I need to do to up my chances? I know I can't get into my room until a certain time, but can't you at least check in at the desk when you get there to get your other stuff (i.e. park passes, etc...)? Will it help me to be there early, even though I may not get into my room that early?

You can put in a request now on your ressies ;-) If you might want to request again when checking in. We like the courtyard view up near the water falls near lobby. :goodvibes

Thank you all so far. How likely is it that you will get what you request?

It is the luck of the draw. Disney tries hard to meet requests when they can. It depends on the time of the year and how busy the hotel is. Don't get your hopes way up, so you will not be disappointed. Every room in Disney is wonderful.
You should add your requests to your reservations now.
Check in early and repeat your requests. You can store your luggage with Bell Services and get your room key with Passess and Dining Credits if you are on the DDP. You can head off to the parks. They will give you a number to call later in the day to see if your room is ready. Once it is ready you can go straight there, no need to go back to the front desk. Call and Bell Services will deliver your luggage.
A couple of things to remember:
Requests are just that requests - they can not be guaranteed.
The more generic your request the more likely you are to get it. For example requesting room 2106 is not good. If that room is occupied - and it likely is - the CM has no idea WHY you wanted that room.
Instead a request something like Higher Floor, Near Elevator, Overlooking Pool, this helps them to know what you desire.
Always put the most important request first, that is the one they will try to meet first.
Have a Great Trip

We had the court yard view and loved looking at the ducks and the water running by in the stream. Either view would be great

Yes...you get there early and you're first in line. You may not be able to check in immediately, but you being there first is typically more important than what some other guest requested 6 months ago who isn't there yet. Like Hopefully said "Requests are just that requests - they can not be guaranteed". Well, first come, first serve and they hold no room for no man!
