Question about wine...

I have guests that are coming to the wedding in December that own a vineyard in Napa Valley. They would like to provide some of the wine and champagne for the wedding.

My question is, is that allowed or not? Are we allowed to provide our own wine? And, if so, is there an extra charge for the handling of the wine?

I had asked about bringing the bottles of sparkling cider becuase they were the sme brand Wal-Mart was selling for $1.86 vs. $22 at Disney. My EM said that we could bring them but that we would still have the corking and pouring fees- about $15.00 a bottle.

I am not sure if this applies to wine, as well, as they may not even let you bring it in. If you can, I would go with it (as long as they can provide enough), becuase you're corking fees are going to cost less than purchasing a Disney alcohol package.

Whats the cake cutting fee?? Bar set-up fees?? other fees??

The corking fee would only apply if you bring in your own wine/champagne. Otherwise, the corking 'fee' is built into the (somewhat outrageous) price you pay for the wine/champagne Disney provides.

We thought about that as well...because even with the corking fee, the wine would have come out cheaper. In the end, we let Disney do it, because we didn't want the hassle of lugging cases of wine over there.

I'm not sure about the in the States, but in Ontario there is always a corkage fee on wine at restaurants, it's just built into the price. We also have some areas that let you bring your own wine to restaurants, however they will charge $10-20 corkage fee. I know it is a bit ridiculous, but they have to make there money somehow if you're not buying the wine from them. I work at a winery in Niagara and during the summer you can buy a bottle for $15 in the retail boutique but if you want to drink it on the deck you have to pay an extra $5.00 corkage. It sounds like Disney will be charging that corkage, so maybe have half the wine from your friends and half from Disney and it won't be as bad as paying for the wine from your friends and all the corkage (unless your friends are planning on giving you the wine free and not on discount, in that case I would just pay the corkage!)

We had considered bringing our own wine as we were considering specific wineries that meant something to us. FTW told us that it would be $12 per bottle in corking fees. Needless to say that we too decided to let FTW take care of everything as it would be easier, and less for us to bring. But if your friends are offering to give you some it might be a better deal.

Our friends were going to provide the wine and champagne free of charge! But, when I think that their time and effort bringing it in could be spared for a mere $7-10 a bottle, I still don't know what to do. They were going to be bringing all of those bottles from California.

Luckily, there won't be many of us (30 at the absolute most). So, even if we do just purchase the wine from Disney, we shouldn't need that much.....I hope....

That's terrible !!! I could understand if we were have a big wedding, but for our intimate wedding? $15 for corking fee ! My wedding is 8 people and it's not crowded
