Hi. I've gotten some good Wii advice here, so I'm sure someone can help me with this:goodvibes

We got a Wii for Christmas. It is definitely the most used gift, so far! We just tried, for the first time, to use the four remotes that we have to play Mario Cart as a family. One isn't working. We've used it before, but it's not working now. It's the one that came with our Wii system (the others are the Nyko brand).

Our Wii box didn't seem to have any warranty card inside. Was it supposed to come with one, or is it just understood that we have coverage for x amount of days from the purchase date? Can anyone tell me how long the coverage is? And does anyone have the warranty number handy? I realize I could spend less than 20 to get another knock off one, but we've only been using it for 2 weeks. It shouldn't be broken already!

Bummer. We were all excited to have a racing match tonight;)

TIA

I'm not sure how to answer your question, but are you sure that the remotes batteries aren't dead, the remote is turned on, or if it needs to be sinked (is that the word) back to your Wii, I know if my boys use theirs they have had to resink it back to our system.

Sorry if you already tried those things, I know sometime we forget to try the obvious.

We thought for some time that one of our remotes didn't work, turns out it just wasn't sychned to the Wii.

Thanks. We tried recharging the battery packs, and then tried regular batteries in case it was a problem with the battery packs. Nothing helped. No lights come on at all, so we can't sync it like we've been doing all along.

Just had to send our wii console in for repair. It was out of the warranty period, so we had to pay. But the warranty is a full year and they are very helpful. Just look in the operations manual and you will find an 800 number to call. We sent our wii out last Monday and it is already being shipped back to us. We get another full year warranty on the repair. The nintendo people are really nice and there was a long wait on the phone to talk to a real person. That was a big plus. Good luck, but I think you you make out just fine.

Nintendo is great for repairs. I think you can register your items online. We had to send in our console after about 8 months. They sent us a shipping label and it was back in 7 days.

I've also sent in DS lites. After the warranty I think they charged $50 to fix the DS lites - I had to send one in twice once so they only charged $25 (w/o me asking). It had nothing to do with Nintendo - just my boys rough handling everything.

I've never had to send in a wii remote. Check their online trouble shooting or call them. Nintendo has always been super helpful.

We just got our Wii for Christmas. New Year's Eve it just stopped working. We tried everything, and it needs to be sent out for repair. We are STILL waiting for the materials to mail it back in for repair. Plus, Nintendo told us to expect the repair to take 2-3 weeks. I am really annoyed, because it looks like the whole process (waiting for mailing package, sending it out, waiting for repair, waiting for it to be mailed back) will probably take 1 1/2 - 2 months. I wish that I just tried to take it back to the store. Since your issue is with the remote, you can still use the Wii, but expect it to be a lengthly process. (Unless you live near Syracuse....the Nintendo rep suggested we drive it to Syracuse to save some time!) The repair # is in the Wii manual.

did they say why it was going to take so long on your system?

Mine never took that long! I got an email right away with a fedex label so I could print it and put it in my own box and I had it fixed and returned to me within 2.5 weeks.

I was out of warranty too but they fixed it for me because a needed update crashed my system so it wasn't my fault.

I've never had a remote just quit on me, sorry to hear about that OP. I don't know about remote warranties, I haven't had to deal with that yet. Sometimes they just act goofy, I hope it starts working again.

Nintendo is great about their warranty just give them a call.

Agreed, Nintendo has been great. Several months ago when ours had trouble, my 14 year old son handled all the details with Nintendo and it was
a very simple process. He registers everything we get for it. They've sent him some neat stuff for registering, such as Zelda posters, etc.

I agree, it was a quick and easy fix for my Wii.

I had bought it about 6mos. before Christmas of 2008 as I wanted to make sure I had it. Never tested it as it was a "Santa" gift. Anyway, of course we pull it out and it isn't working. I didn't have the receipt anymore, but based on the serial number they were able to look it up and see when I bought it and where I bought it (specific store). It was still under warranty so it was quick and painless. I don't even think it was a full 2 weeks from shipping back to having the unit back.
