DH and I are thinking about going in August (yay fairytale package!). We've been before in March, May, June, November, and December.

What is WDW like in August crowd-wise and weather-wise?

We have the option to go either 8/9-8/16 or 8/16-8/23. Which would be better?

Thanks in advance! :)

we were there the first 2 weeks of August last year. weather-wise, it was hot and humid (of course). Our first week it hardly rained at all, and our secound week it rained every day (but not all day). we just took our ponchos everywhere.

Crowd-wise, i noticed a drop in crowds from the first week to the second. I bet the crowds would have been even lower the third week, however, the hours were greatly reduced the third week (MK closing at 7). The two weeks we were there, the MK hours were until 9 or 10.

You should pick the later dates. Many schools across the south start back early in August and the crowds really drop the second and third weeks. We were there last August and on the local news we saw schools in Orlando were stating back 8/5 or 8/12. Both times will be hot and humid, sometimes the rain is nice and cools things off. We just do a lot of inside things with the AC!!!

If you choose the later dates, you will encounter milder crowds. We were there last year, and didn't find it crowded at all, but of course, this year, with the Salute to the Military and the Fairytale Package, it could be more crowded, no matter when you decide to go. At least if you wait, the local kids will be back in school.

It is hot, humid and will rain everyday, usually in the afternoon. As long as you dress for it, wear sunscreen, drink lots of water, take midday breaks, and use mister fans, you should be fine.

We actually enjoyed being there in August... it was our 3rd time!

We went the last two years in August 2nd and 3rd weeks.
The crowds were light and it was hot and humid. We took plenty of water to the park with us, took miday breaks back at the resort or did Waterparks then retured to the parks at night, the park hours were still late then so it was not a problem.

We went on August last year, and it was crowded but manageable. The crowds started to thin out by the end of the week. It was hot, humid and sticky (and I live in the Caribbean!).
It rained almost every afternoon, but we found out that it doesn't last long and crowds tend to disappear when it's raining. We just put on our ponchos and headed to the 'crowded' attractions when it rained. Most of the time there was hardly a line!
