For those of you in the know about the walkway between Epcot and DHS would it be more efficient to take the monorail from Poly to Epcot and walk to DHS rather than wait for the bus from Poly to DHS (which I hear can be a pain)?

No. When you take the monorail to Epcot, you get dropped of at the Future World Entrance. The walkway from Epcot to DHS begins at the International Gateway between the UK and France. So if you take the monorail, first you have to enter Epcot, then walk all the way to the IG, and then walk to DHS. Take the bus, or a cab, or Uber straight to DHS.

We walk between Studios and EPCOT all the time. Much easier, faster, etc. than waiting on any for of transportation to us. It takes no longer than 20 minutes either way walking at a regular (to us) pace.

Now that is if you are at either park. Like JimmyV said, if you get to EPCOT via the Monorail, you're at the front of the park and will have to walk through EPCOT to get out at the back.

No, it definitely won't be more efficient.

You're talking about a 10 minute walk to the TTC, a 10 minute wait for the monorail, a 15 minute ride to Epcot, a 15 minute walk through the park, and a 25 minute walk to DHS. That's about 75 minutes. The bus will be 20 to 40 minutes, depending on your wait.

Coming from the Poly, no, it'd be much more efficient to go straight to DHS, as PP have mentioned. You would be dropped off at the front of EPCOT, have to walk to the back of the park, through the IG, through the EPCOT resort area, past Swalphin, and up to the front of DHS. We stayed at the Dolphin in October and regularly walked to both parks - from Dolphin to DHS was usually a 15 minute or so walk. That was without the 5-10 minute walk from the International Gateway to Dolphin. Robo will probably be along shortly with a map of the area.

Also, if you don't have Park Hoppers, you would use up an entry with this plan - you would have to use your ticket to get into EPCOT in order to get to that walkway.

If you are on a time crunch, you'd be better off calling a taxi or Uber, if you are set on not taking a bus straight to DHS from the Poly.

No, it would not be more efficient. Taking the bus from the Poly to DHS will be much, much faster.

If you did the monorail from the Poly you would go nearly all the way around the local loop before getting to the TTC to catch the Epcot monorail. Of course you could just walk from the Poly to the TTC and that part would go much faster. However the biggest problem comes once you get to Epcot and have to walk all the way through the park to the International Gateway exit and then walk (or take a boat) to DHS. In fact, unless you have a park-hopper ticket you wouldn't even be able to do that.

In addition to what has already been said you would of course have to go through security at Epcot and then again at DHS. Certainly not quicker than just taking the bus.

Without hoppers you couldnt even do this, they dont allow you to use a second day entry, you would be stuck with EPCOT.

More efficient? No. But if you would rather spend time moving and taking in the sights, then it's a great alternative. That time waiting for a bus is grueling for our family. We would walk to the TTC, board the EPCOT monorail, walk through EPCOT out IG to the Boardwalk and on to DHS. In fact we would likely time it so we could grab a drink and or snack somewhere in World Showcase and/or on the Boardwalk. :)

Hollywood studios was extremely packed for the last year of osbourne lights. that's over and it's not much of a pain anymore now that parking lots aren't filling and cars aren't blocking the roads.

The bus monitor at the poly is not working. Waited close to 35 minutes this morning to go to DHS. Then won the lottery for the private tour of the metal detector. Missed my fast pass for tower but overall my fault, should not have left resort so late. Bus at the poly same as anywhere else, not so magical. By the time it did show up we had a large group to pack on. We then went to the GF to drop off a guest and pick up more. So it was not so fun to start the day. So overall, no just wait for the bus.

One other point on the additional security. I totally agree with it. Just will say it needs to be done right. They have some issues to work out on the process and training. It will come with time. But will improve for sure.

Busses are really luck of the draw IMO. When I stayed at Poly in Sept we never waited more than 10 min for a bus to HS or AK but we planned for 30-40 min wait as it is possible to wait that long.

Yup, I've done too this when I want a leisurely wander (and maybe a beer in Epcot!)

Hmmm....I didn't realize people walked from DHS to Epcot and vice versa. So, if we are at DHS for the day and want to hop over to Epcot, would it be faster to walk instead of taking the bus?

Not necessarily faster.

If you are headed to World Showcase near the International Gateway, you'll be closer to that entrance than to Epcot's front gates (where the buses are located.)

Walking from DHS or taking the Friendship boat from DHS will be easier if you're headed to much of World Showcase.

If you're headed to Epcot's Future World, the bus will likely be faster (especially if you don't have to wait long to board it.)

We also like doing this. Leave BWV, walk through EPCOT, catch the monorail over to the TTC and then another monorail to MK. Or the reverse back to BWV.

I am considering entering thru Intl Gate at Epcot this trip. We will be at Pop Century.

I want to start my day at Epcot in World Showcase as opposed to Future World.

From what I understand, I should take the bus to HS and then grab a boat to get to the back entrance of Epcot.

Please confirm this for me.

The idea is to enjoy World Showcase at a leisurely pace as opposed to being completely exhausted before we even get started. I have reserved 2 full Epcot days.

This may change if I find out that AK has new Rivers of Light show!! Just trying to conserve my steps!!:tiptoe::wave:
