Question about waitlist

Please forgive me if this is not the right place to ask or if I'm reposting something that's been asked before. I'm a newbie and still trying to figure all this out. I have my points (360) for this year and I'm trying to book a vacation in November. It appears all the resorts I'd like to stay at are booked and the only option is to waitlist or book Saratoga. So, if I waitlist the resort I'd like to stay at, and I don't get it, does that mean I don't have a place to stay come November? Any advice would be more than welcome!

That's correct. I would book whatever is available and wait list your first choice, unless you are unwilling to go if you have to stay at the place booked. If you don't and the wait list didn't come through, you would not have a room at all.

Find the SSR lovers link. Find out about the resort, you may be perfectly happy there. We stayed there our first trip as DVC member in March, it is our home resort. My DDs (22 and 18) and I both enjoyed it.

I'm certain you will enjoy SSR. It's a fantastic resort. Not one of our home resorts but it's always a pleasure to stay there.

It's funny..when I first became a DVC member I had said that being at one of my favorites would supersede going and if I could only get SSR, OKW, or AKV, then I wouldn't go because I like to walk to the parks.

Fast forward to this year. Decided in March I wanted a last minute Memorial Day weekend trip and could only get SSR or AKV. Guess what???

AKV is a beautiful resort!!!!!!! So, go and you'll have a great time and maybe your wait list will come through!!!

What I like about SSR is being able to take an early morning walk around the resort, especially if we don't have an early morning planned. It's so quiet, you see lots of small wildlife and the landscaping has really grown nicely in the last few years.

Agree. I particularly like adding a walk to DD to an early morning walk around the resort. DD has a rather different feel to it then - very quiet and peaceful.

DTD is really amazing around 7AM or so. Nothing is open and the CMs are working to clean up the place and do any maintenance before the place opens up for the day. A good way to add some miles if you are getting in an early morning run at SSR or OKW. Or even the DTD hotels.

Just wondering if you know that you can waitlist for the same time period you have your SSR room booked. There is an option on the waitlist that if it comes through it will replace your existing reservation.

The reason i ask is after reading your first post it seems you thought you could only waitlist or book a room.
