Question about waitlist and points

We have a Dec uy and right now we have plans for October in a studio savannah view, AKL but are on the wait list for a concierge level at AKL. Here is the problem.. We only have until the end of July to bank our remaining points. Right now we have a 60 or so points to bank, but if the concierge level comes through we will need all but 1 of those points. So, how does this work?
If i bank those points in July, what happens if my wait list comes through since I will no longer have the points to cover the room? Do they automatically borrow points from the next year (using those that were banked first) or is there something else I need to do?

They will borrow next years points to cover your wait list reservation.

Once your points are banked they cannot be borrowed back . Soooo,

When you make a reservation next year be sure to tell MS to use the banked points first

ok, thank you. I have never borrowed before, I guess it works pretty much the same way as banking.
