Using a standard cell phone, held on my lap against my stomach, will this get me in trouble? I did video with the same phone on the old ride with no issues, but I am just planning in advance to stay out of trouble.
Has anyone done it and will it get me in trouble?

Thanks in advance! and for the record, I do not ever want to do anything against the rules, especially if it will get me in trouble.

You might anger the people around you if the glow from the screen is visible. Also, you are not supposed to have any loose objects out during the "flight".

I used a DSLR with no issue at DCA. I believe the rule stated was no flash photography. But I agree you need to be mindful not to allow any light from your screen to show.

As a rule, when I film on rides and in general at the parks, I leave the flash totally off.

We just enjoyed the new flight 3 times in October.

I'm 99% certain that the pre-flight announcements (by the CM, not during the pre-show) now include a no video recording piece in the spiel.

Pretty sure its always said no video recording. Its pretty much standard for anything that has any video type presentation. Probably a copyright or contract issue with the actors.

When we were on the ride in October they emphasized no video taping allowed, the gentleman sitting next to me pulled out his cell phone and held it close to himself to hide the light from the screen. Much to my surprise the sound track was interrupted by a Cast Member reminding the riders that video taping was not allowed! Mickey is watching :rolleyes1

To answer those asking why would I want to when there are other videos of it, well, to have my own to revisit from time to time. Just to have a collection of video files for my own reminiscing.

I've already gotten video from several rides, including the original soarin. I never use the flash/light when taping. Any time I've filmed, I've shot from chest/neck level, so I would not impede on the view or experience of any other rider.

But It seems my question has been answered. If they do say no video, then I won't do it. The only other attraction I can remember where that was mentioned is carousel of progress. As much as I want to record that one, I never have and never will :( .

Thank you for your responses. Mods, please feel free to lock the topic. Thank you.

I remember the talk before the ride saying "no video recording," but I looked to my right during the ride and saw someone filming it on a phone. The CM never interrupted the ride to say no video recording.

I won't take that chance. Don't want to be the cause for disruption for anyone, even if it isn't a for sure thing.

I smile, as it seems that once you have a series of responses you don't like you ask the Mods to lock the thread.
