Question about video Ipods..

Well i just got 1 yesturday for my birthday, and i have heard there is a way that you can take dvd's you arleady have and put them on your video IPod.. If this is true how do you do so?

you can rip a DVD and load it onto your ipod, but you're going to need third party software to convert it to MP4.

Yes, you definitely can put your dvd's on your video iPod, but you do have to use another program to do it. First you import the dvd to your computer, then you use this freeware program to change the format so it is iPod friendly. We have at least 10 full length movies, thousands of tunes, dozens of shorter videos, podcasts, and several hundred photos on our 60 gig iPod- that all takes up less than one quarter of our iPod- tons more room left. When dh gets home, I'll ask him what the name is of that software. I'm at his school now and am going home where we haven't had any power since Friday, so I may not be able to get back to you right away, but I eventually will.

Handbreak is the app to use, but there's not a Windows port of it yet that I'm aware of.

Is there a windows version of handsbrake or is the directions it states the same for both windows and macs? thanks for all of the help so far though! I had no idea how to do any of this.

you're going to need to get a program designed for Windows, Handbrake is a Mac app.

it's pretty easy, all you're doing is ripping a dvd and changing the format.

There are software programs you can get, and I have tried two of them. Both of them had the sound out of sync with the video. I gave up and just bought a movie from Itunes. If you do a search for dvd to ipod you will find a lot of information. Maybe you will have better luck than I did.
