We are new members at BWV an have just booked our first vacation. :) We are going with extended family and have booked the grand villa using 2006 points that we banked, 2007 points that we bought from another member, our 2007 points, and borrowed 2008 points. Being new at this we borrowed all of our 2008 points but didn't need all of them for this trip. My understanding is that you can't then bank borrowed points so I was wondering...is it possible to have the leftover points be our 2007 points? That way we can still bank them and use them later, right? :confused3

I'm still new at this myself, but my understanding as far as borrowing points is that you can't just borrow points. You only borrow enough points to complete a reservation. The balance of unused points will stay in the upcomming year. There are many experts on these boards that know much more than myself, and I'm sure one of them will either confirm what I said or correct my information if it's wrong. Hope this helps.

The only points in jeopardy at this time are the banked 06 points and the borrowed 08 points. Banked points cannot be banked again and borrowed points cannot be banked. Both will expire at the end of the Use Year where they were moved.

Simzac is correct, you can only borrow points to make a reservation - it sounds as though you may have transferred points into your account after already borrowing from 2008. If the transferred points are BWV points, MS will probably allow you to reallocate the reservation to use the banked and borrowed points first, freeing up any other 2007 points to be banked once you are within that Use Year. If the transferred points are NOT BWV point, you probably cannot use them until 7 months prior and probably will NOT be able to reallocate them for the GV.

I say probably because transferred points are supposed to retain their original resort and Use Year - although in the past they assumed the resort and Use Year of the contract into which they were moved.

I'd call MS and see how they can assist.

Good luck - sounds like a wonderful DVC experience! :)
