Up front, I understand the decrease in value in using your DVC points to book on DCL. However, we have decided it is the best option for us in the Summer of 2012. Booking for 2012 starts on 10/20/2010. Currently there are no 2012 DCL point charts posted. If the point charts do not show up in the next two day, should I make a cash reservation and hope to convert to points later?

Once bookings begin for the 2012 cruises, MS can give you the points required even if they are not yet posted on the member site.

Good question-gold & platinum members can book tomorrow-trying to find out about points before then if possible...

Until DVC has them posted on the member website, MS has a forumla that they use to determine points.

The DCL website says booking begins on 10/20 for the Fantasy. It doesn't specify if that's for Gold & Platinum or for everyone.

The TA announcement listed the dates and some gold and platinum members received emails stating they could book tomorrow-although DVC said they still do not have point info yet...

Thanks for everyone's help so far. If anyone finds out any information about points, please post....

This was the issue with booking the Dream too if I remember correctly. If you look on the DCL section of the boards, when Platinum and Gold members (they can book tomorrow) book, they usually post the price and points they are quoted. I'm going to watch tomorrow to see what pops up on that thread and check the DVC site off and on during the day in case it gets posted. It was on-line before Dream bookings opened for the general public last November, but now that there is only 1 day between Platinum & Gold (Oct 19th) bookings versus Silver & General Public (Oct 20th), they may not get it up in time. :confused3

Absolutely do NOT book on cash expecting to switch to points later on. This will no longer work and many members have been disappointed this year when they could not switch the ressies over to points.

I am thinking about possibly booking a 2012 cruise. If I were to book, would I use my current use year points or would it be my 2012 use year points?

It will depend on your UY month and the sail date of the cruise. A 2012 sail date could take place in either your 2011 or 2012 UY.

My UY month is June. So if I were planning on an Aug 2012 cruise would it be my 2012 points?

Correct. You could also use 2011 points that were banked to 2012 and/or borrow from 2013 for that cruise.

Cool. I already plan on using 2011 points for WDW trip so I'm glad I can use my 2012 points.:thumbsup2

One question regarding the 2012 Disney Dream — 4 night Bahamas cruise. I noticed the stateroom categories are the standard ones that you find on the Wonder. I don't see any sub categories, i.e. 6A,6B,5E, etc. Is this correct or will points chart be updated at later date?

Sounds like they have not been updated as of yet.

It doesn't look like DVC is going to split them out. If you look the points for those, they are a range.

Will MS allow you to select your stateroom number or is it assigned at check-in?

Working with MS is like working with a travel agent. You tell them what you want and they contact DCL to see what is available. If you have specific rooms you want them to try for, let them know and they will ask DCL for those room numbers.

I make my reservations way in advance so I have always been told my room number assignment when I made the reservation. I have asked for adjoining rooms on a particular deck and got them since they were available.

The later you book the less negotiating you can do, since the rooms you want may not be available.

Whatever you do, try not take any disappointment out on MS, they have always been very nice and will try to work on your behalf.
