Can the points you have earned on your Disney Visa be used to pay for cruises (or park tickets)?
I apologize if this has been asked before. I did do a search and didn't find anything with using the points for this purpose. :thanks:

Yes they can! You need to 'cash in' the Disney Rewards for a redemption card. They will send the card then you can use it for anything Disney-related. You don't have to redeem all the dollars at one time. If you need $500 for a deposit, you can redeem only what you need then add more as you need it. The redemption cards do expire so you'll want to watch the date on the card you receive. You can redeem on-line at the Chase site or call them.

Correct that Rewards dollars can be used to pay towards a cruise or park tickets (or WDW resort, dining, shopping, DCL onboard expenses, etc.).

The redemption cards do expire so you'll want to watch the date on the card you receive.

update: No more expiration dates on the Redemption cards. Chase (or Disney) changed that last year. Rewards held on your account still expire (I think it's 5 years after earned) but once transferred to the Redemption Card they don't expire.

Enjoy your cruise!

yes, I use them to buy gift cards and then deposit the gift cards in my disney vacation account and then pay it off that way

I prefer the Chase Sapphire card that simply lets me cash in points for a credit to the VISA bill. No silly gift cards to worry about!

@hanscarlet What exactly is the DVA? I have a Chase Disney Visa and use it all the time for DCL and WDW but I don't know anything about DVA.

@pjacobi How many points earned do you get per dollars spent and for what purchases (restaurant, gas, grocery?) with the Chase Sapphire? Does it cost anything per year?

Hope I'm not hijacking but this is releated. Can you use gift cards to pay off the Chase Disney Visa? I want to charge the cruise on my chase visa for the reward points then pay off with gift cards. Is that possible?

I don't believe you can do that. It's basically the same thing as paying off a credit card with a credit card (even though it's technically a gift card).

Thank you for the clarification! I haven't redeemed in a while!

Dang! Our school has a thing where if you buy the gift cards from them the school gets a % of the sale. They sell the $500 gift cards. I want to get my reward points AND help the school, guess I can't have my cake and eat it too.

Disney Visa card payments are made to Chase, not Disney. I'd have to guess no to using gift cards as payment.

How do I use the Disney Visa Rewards to pay for expenses and excursions on a Disney Cruise?

You'll need to transfer your points to a Rewards Redemption Card. Then just go to Guest Services and ask them to apply it to your onboard account. You can have your account set-up as "cash" or also use a credit card but be sure to take the Redemption card there early before your credit card gets hit.

Enjoy your cruise!

DVA = Disney Vacation Account, and it's like a savings account for disney trips where you get an account number and you can pay for your disney trips using your disney account number. The incentive to use the DVA is that for every $1000 you pay on your trip using DVA you get a free $20 in gift cards. So if your trip is $3k - that's free $60 just for using DVA.... I deposit into DVA using my Chase Disney card and then use my chase redemption points to purchase a Disney Gift Card and you can also deposit $ into your DVA using a Disney gift card... win win :)
