Question about using family/companion restrooms

There are people with wheelchairs who will complain no matter who is in the stall. My youngest DD can't walk, uses a wheelchair (not a stroller) and is too heavy to carry. We have sometimes have older people in wheelchairs tell us we should use a regular stall because she is fairly small (5 feet tall and less than 90 pounds). There is no way we can do that, but in some people's eye's only their own needs count.

:scared1: Gah?! Some people really are idiots!

I hope I didn't come across as judgmental or unkind in my previous posts. I understand there are a hundred and one reasons to need to use the HA cubicle, and not all of them come with a flashing neon sign attached. I guess I just got fairly fed-up on our holiday of having to wait 5 to 10 minutes at almost every restroom we went to, when my mother hardly ever had to queue. It was such a rarity for me not to have to queue, in fact, that we commented on it in surprise every time it was empty (yes, we live sad, sad lives ). It would be good if something could be done to reduce wait times for the HA cubicles, but I have no idea what 'something' might be. Disney, have you got any good ideas up your sleeves? ;)

I have to agree that there is a LOT of confusion here - especially with regard to the difference between a "companion" restroom and a "family" restroom. My husband is not going to enter a women's room with our little girls, nor will he take them into the men's room. Our younger child is five and autistic - she can NOT be unsupervised even for a moment, despite looking very "normal". I am usually the one with her, as she is a huge mama's girl. However, over Thanksgiving we went to one of the indoor waterpark resorts in Wisconsin Dells. As soon our older daughter and I walked away to go down a slide the younger one announced she had to poop. What was he to do? Let her poop in the wave pool? They used the "family" restroom that was situated between the men's and women's locker rooms. He was equally annoyed that he had to wait for two teenage girls to leave the "family" restroom so he could take her to the toilet. If Disney feels that the "companion" restrooms should be only for special needs, they need to make it very, very clear.
