Has anyone used Disney Gift Cards at the food vendor stands in the Parks?

I am trying to think of a way to give DS a set amount each day without him having to carry cash. I was thinking of getting the Disney Gift Cards, one for each day, but have never used a gift card or credit card at the food vendors which is where he will probably spend the most.

Any info greatly appreciated.

if you are staying on property in a Disney resort, you can place a credit card on account on your room card. Then with that card, you can charge meals and sodas, water and snacks to your room.

Thanks, we thought about that option, but aren't going to do it this time.

I've used gift cards a number of times at the food vendors and have never had a problem.

Have a wonderful time!!

I purchase gift cards in the months leading up to our trips to use as our "spending money". Last month we used those at food stands, stores and restaurants and never had a problem.

From reading various posts on this subject- you will have to keep a running tab. When using the gift cards in the parks there is no way to see how much is left on the card.

Is this true?

I have been wondering the same thing I would love to know as well.

Your last receipt will show you the balance so keep your receipts with the gift card. I know we used the gift card for food but I can't remember if we used it at the turkey leg cart. I don't think we did.

just thought of one more thing. You can buy $50 Disney "Celebrate Everyday" gift cards (at certain places) that come with a trading pin attached.

As we were going to spend the money anyway we got one WDW Birthday Gift card (had a pin with a Mickey icon birthday cupcake and candle) and one with a WDW Celebrate Gift card (pin had a Mickey icon party hat on it).

So essentailly these limited edition pins were free. There was also a Best MOM gift card and one other type I think. All resorts do not sell them. But POP Century gift shop did. You could also get them at MK Emporium and MouseGears in Epcot.

The only denomination for these special cards is $50. They were redeeemable at the parks, resort gift shops and even the DCL. I loved this idea because we are pin people.

What a great idea. Thanks for the tip.

My dd uses both Disney Dollars and Disney Gift cards and has never had a problem. It works out great and she feels like a little person being able to make the decision on which she wants to use.

A few years ago I bought a number of GC from the disneyland website (they have a number of cute different designs) for my DD. It is so nice to give her a couple of GC with a set amount of money. I don't have to worry about her charging to much to my card or worry about her losing all her money. (Write down or take a picture of the # on the card) It can be cancelled if necessary. So far she has done very well. Then I just refill them everytime we go the park.
On her Rattatouille Card I usually will allow her $5.00 a day for a snack of her choosing (I don't get to veto it unless it is to close to ADR). So for a 7 day trip she gets $35.00 for snacks which she gets to budget. (the total does print on the reciept)
On her Tinkerbelle Card I usually give her $100.00 for souvioneers, shirts, pins anything she wants. When its gone its gone.
We have a couple of other cards that I use to help me budget or I also would go totally overboard on Disney Extras.

I'm so glad you asked this! I was wondering the same thing. This next trip is a budgeted trip and we aren't doing the dining plan. I don't like having to carry cash all the time though. It would be nice to buy some gift cards ahead of time over the next few months and set them aside for our meal and spending money.

So just to be clear- Food places in the parks and resorts accept Disney gift cards? Any exceptions?

Just wanted to let everyone know that we were able use the gift cards everywhere, including the snack carts and never had a problem. Thanks to everyone for the input.
