Question about using Delux Dining Plan

We are 2 adults and 2 kids. At the table service restaurants is there any reason you could not use 4 of our adult meal credits to order the kids two adult meals? Unlike the regular dining plan where the CS credits are lumped together and therefore you should only order the same number of adult/child meals as you have in your party so the credits are not used inappropriately, with the deluxe plan, I assume the meal credits are just listed as adult meal credits (used for CS or TS) and child credits (for CS or TS) since there is not differentiation between TS and CS credits in the meal plan. If that is the case, why could we not use some of our adult meal credits to order two adult meals for the kids. The credits would be taken off appropriately (ie 4 adult credits used with the original amount of child credits remaining) unlike on the original DDP when ordering CS where the credits cannot be appropriately assessed to child or adult.

Thanks in advance.

Mark.

No, sorry. Your KTTW card will state 2A/2C, and so you will not be allowed to order more than 2 adult meals at one time.

Kids must order from the kids menu where available.

Your KTTW card will state that you are a party of 2 Adults and 2 Children. When the card is run, they will know this. You will not be allowed to charge more then 2 Adult meals at a meal.

I can understand why that should be the case if there is no way to determine if you are using adult or child dining credits which is the case with the CS on the regular dining plan. If however (for example) I wanted to use an adult TS meal that I have paid for on my meal plan and they can correctly deduct that from my total adult TS meals so that I don't use more than I paid for why should that be disallowed. It would be no different than my ordering two TS meals for myself which I assume would be allowed if I were really hungry.

You would not be allowed to order 2 meals for yourself if it would take you over 2 adult meals total. You can only order 2 adult meals and 2 kids meals at any single meal. That is how it works. Those are the rules.

You don't have to use the dining plan if you do not like the rules set for it.

Since your card indicates 2 adults you will only be able to order a MAXIMUM of two adult meals at a time. Even if you are really hungry you can't order 3 or 4 at one time. You would have to get back in line a 2nd time and have the 2nd order it rung up separately or be seated a 2nd time at a TS restaurant in order to order multiple meals (more than 2 adult meals at a time).

If you want to order adult meals for the kids then you will have to upgrade them to adults. However in order to do that you wold have to upgrade their park tickets to adult as well.

You have to present your KTTW card to the server and it will indicate that there are 2 Adults/2 Children in your room - so yes the restaurant is able to determine who is on your plan.

You can order as many TS meals as you want at one sitting, but the server will only deduct 2 TS credits. For any additional adult meals you will have to pay out of pocket.

One option used by some guests, if they like what's on the child's menu is to order one (or two) child's meals and when the food arrives, the Adults eat the child's dinner and the child can have the Adult's plate. The restaurant isn't going to question who eats what, just as long as the Adult and Child credits don't exceed the KTTW card.

If you want to order only Adult meals for your children, you can upgrade them to Adult status. However, you will also have to purchase Adult park tickets for them. Many people whose children are big eaters or don't like any of the kid's menu choices have done this.

There are specific rules for the Dining Plans. If these rules don't work for you and your family you do not have to use the Plan. Many people don't invest in the dining plan and pay out of pocket for all of their meals instead.

Thanks for everyone's input. I have called Disney dining information twice now and both times I was told that if I had adult table service credits available I could tell the waiter to use those credits if I wanted to order extra table service entrees from the adult menu. The example I gave was both if my wife and I wanted to share 3 entrees and if I wanted to use one of my credits to order and extra entree for the table. I guess I am just curious why the disney dining information staff is telling something different than what is actually practiced.

Disney Dining (407-WDW-DINE) often gives out incorrect information on use of the dining plan and particulars of restaurants or menus. I never suggest using this line to get information about anything but whether or not a reservation is available.

Disney put a system into effect to prevent guests using their dining plan meals to "treat" family/friends/people at the next table. Your server is supposed to check your KTTW card to see how many persons are on the reservation who have the dining plan. If that card says 2 adults and 2 children they will let you order a maximum of 2 adult meals and 2 child meals per transaction. This also has the effect of preventing guests from using credits for which they paid a child's price (which is nearly 4x less than the adult price) to purchase adult menu meals. Unfortunately it causes some problems for guests who have two adults in their party and the two adults want to share three full adult meals or entrees (you do realize that you would be using a full table service credit to order one entree) or they want to take an extra meal back to the room to eat later. You can always ask your server and explain that your intent is to use a full extra credit to add one entree to your order. They may or may not allow you to do this.

We've used DxDP many times and the credits are just credits. There are no "adult" and "child" entitlements. You have a number of entitlements and it deducts 4 entitlements for a meal.

The server however will ask to see you KTTW before ordering and then will explain what you get.

Two adult meals and Two Childrens meals and what comes with each.

I wouldn't get my heart set on something that you heard over the phone.

We HAVE however had them use an extra credit when we expected to pay oop.

i.e. we had a 4 year old and a 2 year old so 2A/1C on the card and if we ordered a meal for DD(2) they would always deduct it from our entitlements. I would have to have them fix it every time because I didn't want us to end up short entitlements for the adults. Just not cost effective.

YMMV so good luck!

if your children want adult meals your best bet would be to eat at the buffets, like the Cyrstal Palace or Tuskers House. We went a few weeks ago with our 8 year old and she could get anything on the buffet. She wasnt limited to the childs buffet.
