The largest impact your UY will have on you is if you need to cancel a reservation. The banking rules allow you to bank any unused points until the end of the 8th month of your use year.

If you normally vacation in June or July then a June UY would work very well. Earlier UY months would work well also: April, March or Feb.

The worst UY would be August, followed by September or October because if you had to cancel a June/July trip on short notice (but at least 31 days in advance to avoid having the points go into the holding account) you would be past your banking deadline and wouldn't have much time left in the UY to use the points for something else.

The question you need to ask yourself is, will you always prefer to vacation in June or July or will you also want to go at other times of the year? Spring break? Thanksgiving? Christmas week? Once you have figured out your most likely travel times, pick a UY where most of your trips would occur as early in your UY as possible.
