Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone has been successful upgrading to concierge after check in, even if its just an upgrade to lounge access. We are fully prepared to pay for the upgrade, and the only reason we aren't changing our reservation is that we can't modify it as it was booked under the 40% off promotion from Jan/Feb. Specifically I'm interested in Polynesian Concierge. Has anyone successfully upgraded at check-in there? If so do you mind me asking what the extra charge was? Thanks!

They are limiting the "access only" for concierge these days and being more restrictive in giving them out. What happens is that the concierge lounges are calculated to hold those in the conceirge rooms. When you add additional people/bodies then it gets more crowded - especially during peak times. In addition, they are being more conscious of the fact that there is a "true" cost associated with concierge in terms of food and service thus may in the future do fewer complimentary upgrades.

I know that at check in you can always ask if there are any concierge rooms available and if so the cost to upgrade to concierge. What we have found is that if we get a good rate the difference in cost doesn't make a lot of sense. If you are at rack rate then it isn't quite as much of a jump.

Ah ok. We have been given access only a few times in the past, but it's understandable as to why they are limiting it. We are more than willing to pay for an upgrade, or just hope for some pixie dust, I was just curious to see who has had success upgrading at check-in.

im sure if they have the availability it wont be a problem. Disney never turns down extra money.

One way to check whether concierge is sold out prior to your arrival -- might be to go online and use their reservation system. If a concierge room comes up for your dates then you will know that you can probably upgrade at check-in. It will also giving you an idea of the "going rate" for that room so you will know if the "upgrade price" is reasonable. Just an idea.
