Question about upgrading to Annual Pass

So we are going to Universal next weekend with friends. We are getting the 3park 5day tickets and plan to upgrade them to 2park preferred/seasonal APs since we do not plan to hit VB again. We plan to hit US or IOA on May 27 and then VB on May 28. If I do the upgrade in the park on May 27 will I still be able to use the old tickets to enter VB on May 28? Or will I need to wait and do the upgrade after we hit VB? I wasn't sure if the system would know we upgraded the tickets or not. Any insight?

Everything will be brand new to all involved next week...you may just want to play it safe and upgrade after your VB visit.

Once you upgrade, your ticket is your new admission. So if the new ticket doesn't include VB, you won't be able to enter VB.
