Question about upgrading my Annual Pass

Right now my boyfriend and I have the Silver Pass and it expires on my Birthday next year in May. Originally I wasn't planning on renewing because I wanted to take trips elsewhere and would feel like I needed to go to Disney. But it's looking like we might have a couple small trips coming up and a New Year's Eve stay.

If I did renew my annual pass could I upgrade it to the Platinum one that doesn't have blackout dates? If I can, is it cheaper than letting the pass expire and buying it again? Or will it be the same price as a new one since I'm upgrading?

During the renewal window, you can upgrade/downgrade to any level of annual pass you are entitled to and keep the renewal savings.

You can upgrade your pass at any time
I don't want to upgrade my current pass. I'd want to upgrade the next one because I'm planning a New Year's Eve trip which would be blacked out on the other passes. I'm trying to decide if it makes sense to renew or just buy single day tickets for my couple trips.

During the renewal window, you can upgrade/downgrade to any level of annual pass you are entitled to and keep the renewal savings.
That's good to know there would be a savings with renewing. Thanks :)
