My family has booked 2 catagory 10 rooms. Suites 7505 and 7507 because they are adjoining. We booked last Jan 2005 for the Feb. 2006 cruise.

We think we probably won't get upgraded because we requested adjoining rooms. Any thoughts?

All indications are that DCL provides upgrades if they need your room for someone else -- not as matter of course, nor as a reward for early booking, repeat business, early payment, booking directly through DCL, or anything else.

I'm not looking at a deck plan now, but I assume you have connecting rooms, not merely adjoining rooms.

Let's suppose you have 3 people booked in each room, but your rooms actually each have a capacity of 4. (Again, I'm only giving an example here; I don't know the actual capacity of your rooms.) Now, let's suppose DCL needs to accomodate a family of 7 or 8 that needs connecting staterooms. In this example, for DCL's benefit, they could upgrade you to a two connecting outside or verandah staterooms that each only hold 3 passengers.

Will it happen? Probably not. Could it happen? Anything's possible. Just don't be disappointed if you "only" get the exact staterooms that you booked.

It has been the experience on the boards that if you have requested adjoining or connecting rooms, either both rooms are upgraded or neither is. That's not a worry for you.

Horace is right--you get an upgrade either because they were able to sell your room to someone else at a higher price or because someone in a higher level cabin cancelled at the last minute and the pixie dust landed on you.

The bottom line, as always, is to book a cabin where you will be happy. If you get an upgrade, it is wonderful, but do not book low counting on an upgrade (either free or at port). It is really not very likely to happen.
