We will be renting dvc points for our trip this summer and I was wondering if it is still possible to buy the ultimate park hopper pass when your renting points? Is it just put on to your room card when you check in? Can you buy it ahead of time to take advantage of the savings? Or do we have to buy the park hopper instead? Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!:D

You will be able to purchase them at check-in at the resort. You won't be able to purchase them in advance since the reservation was made using points.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the reply! When I purchase them at the resort, can I use my disney club discount?

DC discount is only available for advance sales now.

Sometimes, renters have been able to get the DVC discount on UPH passes. While technically that is not supposed to be allowed, it can't hurt to ask.

Good Luck!

You may not want to. Here's why. Even though renters aren't supposed to get the 10% member discount, they always seem to. You may be able to get the 10% members discount at checkin which is much more than the DC discount. If your card says member, you will also have access to essentially all of the other member discounts as well.

Thanks for the info!:D I'm not sure if I'll wait to buy the passes there since I'm usually the type to have everything in order before I leave for vacation. I'll think on it. Thanks again for your help!:D

If you are renting points, you will not be able to buy UPH tickets in advance.

Of course, you can buy any other type of pass in advance if you like.

In my last post I knew that I couldn't purchase UPH in advance. I was referring to buying the Park Hopper in advance. I'll need to think about which ticket I want to buy. Thanks!:D

I sometimes think I go against the grain here and don't purchase the UPH's, even though DVC members get the 10% discount....

Here's why:

1) We we have the UPH, we feel like we HAVE to visit the parts every day... Most of the time, my DW and I want at least a few days of downtime at the pool... If we have the UPH, then by not going to the parks, we feel like we are losing money...

2) UPH's are only good until the end of the day you check out of your resort... Park Hoppers or PHP's NEVER expire... So... If we get a 5 day hopper, and only use four days of it... No big deal... We can the remaining day on a future trip... My MIL and FIL used a day they had on their passes from 4 years ago... As DVC members, I know I'll always have an opportunity to use those leftover days...

Hope this helps...

I agree with Doc's thinking....

I Buy 7 day Park Hopper Plus tickets. Gives us 7 days at the parks and 4 "Features" to use, on this trip or future trips. Nothing expires and you can still park hop seeing all 4 parks in 1 day if you choose. This takes away the pressure of the UPH of feeling we paid for it so we have to go.

One thing to consider, when you buy the UPH when you check in, ask themto take off your check in and check out days. This is a great savings if you will not be going to the parks on those days.

I usually do not get to WDW until noon-ish after flying in from Boston and end up leaving property in the early afternoon. No sense paying for what I am not using.

Thats my 2 cents worth

By the way....check out Connections (I am sure someone has a link, perhaps on www.mousesavers.com) for lower priced tickets.

Thanks for the help everyone!:D We are going with friends this year and wanted the flexibility that the UPH gives us. For example, if we have a resort day and later decide to hit the parks after dinner just to see the parade or fireworks because our friends are going and we want to enjoy it with them, then we want to be able to do that without feeling like we would be using up a day on our pass just for fireworks. So, it leaves us with some things to consider. The difference in cost is between $200-$250 with and without discounts. Since Disney usually ends up costing a ton, a little bit more on passes may not make a big difference to us. Have to think about this some more. Thanks again for your input. You have all given me something to consider!:D

wdwfan,

From your signiture it looks like you like to go to WDW just about every year.

1) Maybe it's time to consider buying into DVC instaed of renting.

2) If you time your trips right you can get 2 trips on one AP. Works for me!

Hello everyone,
I have just begun to look into which type of tickets we should purchase for our family's trip in April. We are renting points from a DCVer. I was online looking at the Disney site tonight and thought it would be a good idea to purchase in advance the UPH passes. We will be flying into Orlando at 9:00 am for 7 nights and 8 days. Our flight on the eighth day leaves at 8:20 so we should be able to get in another day in the parks if we wish. Now I just read on here that I can't buy those tickets in advance. Pardon my naivete, but why can't you buy the UPH tickets in advance online? Would it be better to wait to buy the tickets down there and use a AAA discount? Do they apply? I am like one of the other posters, I would really like to have the tickets bought ahead of time. HELP! :)

You can't buy the UPH tickets in advance because UPH tickets are associated with a particular resort and are only available as part of a room and ticket package. (You can buy UPH tickets online if you are buying a ppackage). Since you are renting points for your room, you can only buy the UPH tickets at check in. That's just the way Disney & DVC work. As others have posted, the good news is that you will, in all probablility, get the 10% DVC Member discount on the UPH tickets when you buy them at the resort. That's better than the discount for buying in advance. And you will also have the option to drop the day of arrival and/or the day of departure. Can't do that in advance, either.

Enjoy the trip - I'm sure you will love yor DVC accomodations!

Thank you Carol for explaining everything and for your help. When we go to purchase the UPH tickets upon arrival do you know if the CM automatically give us the 10% discount? I would gladly accept it, but if asked I wouldn't be able to dishonestly answer that we are actual DVC members- not trying to look like a saint here, but I couldn't be dishonest in front of my kids and set a bad example for them. However, "a don't ask, don't tell" policy may be acceptable-that is quite a discount! Do they just assume that you are DVC members when you check in? I am looking so forward to this trip- I hope we can get the discount and save some money, but if we can't, we will pay the regular price and be on our way!

Kirk,

Eventually I hope that my husband and I will be able to join DVC. We have just bought a brand new home (last year) and are overwhelmed with the cost of decorating our home both inside and outside. We enjoyed our stay at the BCV last year and are very intrigued with DVC. :D

How much would a UPH pass be from Sun at check in to Wed. ? We are actually leaving on Thurs. morning and will not be going to the parks. I read you can ask them to leave off the check out day. Is this true? What would the cost be with the DVC discount and without?
I am trying to decide between UPH or 4 day hoppers.
Which is cheaper.

I believe:

$218.00 -10% = 196.2

Ultimate Park Hopper® 3-Night Ticket (Ages 3-9)
